Property Description for 400 East 52nd Street, 8-FW

Incredible opportunity! Convertible 4 bedroom over 2,000 square feet. Move right into this renovated, sunny pre-war apartment on one of Beekman's most beautiful streets. A gracious, windowed foyer leads to a large corner living room with a wood burning fireplace and sunny east and south exposures over leafy gardens with a peek of the river. There is an adjoining formal dining room with new built-ins, which can easily be converted to a fourth bedroom and could be entered from a door to the bedroom hall (see alternate floor plan). There is a beautifully renovated windowed kitchen with top of the line appliances. Two more oversized bedrooms have open exposures facing west and north, each with big closets, and ensuite bathrooms. A separate smaller bedroom in the front of the apartment has its own bath and can serve as an additional bedroom, a guest suite, or a home office. There is excellent closet space throughout. Utilities included in maintenance. Located on a tree-lined cul-de-sac.

400 East 52nd was designed by Emery Roth and built by Bing & Bing in 1931. It has 153 apartments and is part of Southgate, a collection of five elegant co-op buildings that share a lush common garden space. The building has a full-time doorman, a live-in super, storage facilities, bike room and on-site management. Residents are only half a block from the East River and are ideally situated in the historic Sutton Beekman neighborhood. 80% financing allowed!

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
