Property Description for 65 Strong Place

Set on the idyllic corner of Strong Place and Degraw Street in the heart of picturesque Cobble Hill, 65 Strong Place is a rarely available, beautiful condition, single-family townhouse with two street frontages, landscaped garden, and private garage to boot.

Constructed on a vacant lot in 1987, this gorgeous 11' wide x 46' deep brownstone has undergone significant upgrades over the years including a major renovation in 2008 overseen by acclaimed CWB Architects and Coburn interior design. The expansive scope of work includes new doors, windows, bathrooms, plumbing & heating, roof replacement, and more.

Upon entry, the loft-like parlor floor seamlessly blends kitchen, living, and dining with a clever separation of space achieved through the use of custom built-in timber shelving, concealed closets, and frosted privacy screens. You'll notice excellent condition hardwood floors, lofty 10' ceilings, and an expansive living room that spans 20' with five windows, south-west exposures, and custom built-in shelves.

The expansive open windowed chef's kitchen boasts a suite of top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances including a Wolf 4-burner gas stove, Subzero refrigerator, Thermador oven, Bosch dishwasher, and U-line wine refrigerator. A large breakfast bar accommodates four for informal dining while a large pantry provides plenty of space for all your cooking needs. Connected to the kitchen and positioned beneath an open skylight is a cleverly designed dining area that enjoys natural sunlight and built-in banquette seating. This comfortable and cosy dining room overlooks a beautifully landscaped garden through an expansive glass picture window. These details showcase contemporary flair that the design team utilized to create an open and airy space that still feels warm and welcoming.

Outside, you'll find a private garden oasis surrounded by bamboo and lush environs providing plenty of room to relax and unwind.Bright natural sunlight pours into the home from south, west, and northern exposures, allowing for direct morning and afternoon light.

The garden floor features a large den/rec room with wood-burning fireplace and dry bar, as well as an additional bedroom and full bathroom. Making your way upstairs, you'll pass two large bay windows (reframed and repaired in 2010) with gorgeous views overlooking tree-lined Strong Place.

On the third floor, you'll find two bedrooms each with sizable storage and proportions and a full windowed bathroom, while the top fourth floor includes an additional two bedrooms and full size bathroom. Each bedroom enjoys plenty of natural light with three windows and two exposures. If that's not enough, the home is replete with its own private garage with a custom made Landmarks approved door.

Additional amenities include a full-size Maytag washer/dryer, split-system ductless Mitsubishi AC unit in the dining area, Nest thermostats, surround sound speakers throughout, and dimmer light switches. Set directly across from the Gothic Revival church in the heart of Cobble Hill, 65 Strong Place sits on a block with history and charm and is conveniently located near local schools and the countless cafes, restaurants, and shops that the neighborhood is known for. This rare first-of-its-kind resale is a truly rare offering that won't last long!

Cobble Hill | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The neighborhood now known as Cobble Hill was originally settled by Dutch farmers in the mid-1600s. Tucked along the East River, in the heart of Brooklyn, Cobble Hill is known for its welcoming, leafy streets, independent mom-and-pop shops, and 19th century brownstones.

Most of Cobble Hill lies within an historic landmark district, and building heights are restricted to 50 feet, which helps maintain its 19th century atmosphere. Building owners will often split the use of their four- or five-story buildings, occupying several of the top floors and renting out the ground floor as apartments or, conversely, occupying one or more of the lower floors and renting out the top floors. New construction and alterations to existing buildings in the historic district require approval by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, which helps maintain the historic character of the Cobble Hill neighborhood.

Although most housing in Cobble Hill consists of traditional brownstones and brick townhouses,, you will also find churches that have been converted to condos, carriage houses that have become luxury apartments and Victorian school houses that have been converted into lofts.

Court Street and Atlantic Avenue are the main commercial streets in the neighborhood. You will find popular Middle Eastern restaurants on Atlantic Avenue. Court Street is home to casual restaurants, many with outdoor seating, relaxed cafes and hip bars.

Many young professionals and families live in the brownstones, townhouses, and single-family homes that line the leafy streets. Cobble Hill is a great place to live if you work on Wall Street, as you can walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to work.
