Property Description for 68 Bradhurst Ave, 6-D

Apartment 6D at the Langston has an excellent three bedroom, two bath layout with privacy for the primary bedroom suite, plenty of closet space, and the best living/dining area of any apartment line at the Langston. As you enter you'll have a double-wide entry and linen closet on your right. Turning left from the entry hall you'll have the second and third bedrooms, one with a double-wide and one with an oversized closet, as well as the full secondary bath. Turning right from the entry hallway, you enter the large living/dining space with the open galley kitchen straight ahead. At the far corner of the living room, you enter the primary bedroom suite with a dressing area, double-wide closet, and en-suite bath featuring Crema Pearl Italian Marble. The apartment also features European white oak strip flooring throughout. The apartment faces north over the Langston Condominium's courtyard (well away from street and traffic noise) and has good natural light due to the low-rise buildings in the area. The Langston is a full-service condominium with a 24-hour attended lobby, live-in super, courtyard, building laundry, resident's gym, and on-site parking garage (extra fee). It is located two stops from Midtown on the A or D trains. Other nearby trains include the C, B 1, and 3 and the 4 and 5 trains are a quick ride on the Bx19 bus to Grand Concourse. The building is not far at all from Yankee Stadium, The Apollo Theatre, Riverbank State Park, NY Presbyterian Hospital, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Harlem School of the Arts, Schomburg Center, Harlem Y, NYSC, Bronx Terminal market Mall, Jackie Robinson Park (swimming, basketball, baseball) and Mill Pond Park (tennis).

Harlem | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The neighborhood called West Harlem by the locals is known as Manhattanville to neighborhood newcomers. The area is culturally diverse and might be considered a microcosm of the city as a whole.

Columbia University has recently expanded into the area, which is attracting student residents from all over the world. Together with students from the City College of New York and young professionals fleeing higher prices in other neighborhoods, this influx of younger residents has brought with it more restaurants and bars on W 125th Street to serve this clientele. There are also new ventures, like a rock-climbing gym, to cater to the interests of these students and young professionals. At the same time, there are many small, family-owned shops and restaurants that have been anchors of the neighborhood for multiple generations.

The area has been through a housing upgrade, as older properties have been renovated and abandoned properties have been razed to make room for new development. There are still reasonably priced apartments available. Young professionals are finding that there is a certain cachet to living in West Harlem. It provides a convenient commute to the city and all of its amenities, while providing a sense of escape at the end of a long work day.

While rentals are popular with the student population, the young professionals are delighted to find pre-war brownstones, pre-war co-ops (including some income-capped HDFCs for lower- and middle-income buyers), and post-war condos that they can afford, although prices are rising. Some new low-rise developments, sporting virtual doormen and desired amenities, are cropping up.
