Property Description for 56 Walker Street, 3

Located in an elegant Italianate landmark in the center of the Tribeca Historic District, Duplex Residence 3 at Walker House combines contemporary elegance with the proportions and character of classic New York industrial architecture, including 7" oak floors on the main level and 12' ceilings throughout. In glittering contrast to the carefully preserved cast iron facade, the 3-bedroom/3.5-bath apartment is an ethereally spacious interpretation of High Modernism.Spread out over 3,000 sq ft, the apartment opens from the private-keyed elevator into a gleaming open living area that features a book-matched mantel of Statuary Marble and extends into a dining/lounge space perfect for entertaining. A gourmet kitchen features a book-matched marble island, Dada-designed white lacquer cabinets with motorized drawers and a full complement of Gaggenau appliances, Dornbracht features and a 24 under-counter wine refrigerator.Separated from the main level by a short staircase, two spacious bedrooms provide privacy and quiet, as well as ample closet space. The northwest bedroom has a full ensuite bath, replete with Carrara Marble hexagon mosaic tub walls, Statuary Veneto mosaic tile shower walls, and a custom wood vanity, while the northeast bedroom is adjacent to a full bath.A sleek floating staircase with an LED-lit handrail leads up to the primary bedroom suite, which includes a 240' walk-in closet, an ensuite with book-matched Silverwave Marble walls, an ADM freestanding oval tub, a custom double vanity with marble drawers and countertops, a towel warmer rack, radiant heated floors, a Hansgrohe rainfall shower, and Dornbracht faucets and fixtures.Touchscreens installed by Bang & Olufsens allow control of everything from lighting, climate settings, and motorized shades and windows to the Bang & Olufsen home theater speaker system and expansion capabilities for custom applications. Storage space is available as well as in-house laundry. The building is close to all forms of transport and surrounded by the restaurants, shopping and cultural offerings of Tribeca, Soho and Lower Manhattan. A unique opportunity to make your home in one of the neighborhood's most sophisticated buildings.

Tribeca | Manhattan

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
