Property Description for 6 East 1st Street, 5-A

Stunning triplex penthouse with tremendous private outdoor space available at 6 East 1st Street. Unit 5A spans three levels with distinct style on each floor over its approximately 3,500 square feet of interior space.

Entering through the foyer, the main living area evokes grandness not only through its 11.5' ceilings but also through the open layout of the residence. The southern exposure adds warmth and an abundance of natural light to the home's modern aesthetic. The formal living room comes equipped with a wood-burning fireplace as well as a powder room. The open kitchen features custom lacquered cabinetry, marble countertops and a suite of high-end stainless steel appliances including a wine fridge and coffee maker. A secondary bedroom with an en-suite bathroom complete the lower level.

A striking staircase encircling a floating chandelier leads to the main great room. With soaring 13' ceilings, this ideal entertaining space opens to the incomparable wraparound terrace of almost 2,000 square feet. The private outdoor space is an extension of the main great room with access to a wet bar and an additional powder room. It is on this level that the primary suite sits offering the upmost level of privacy and comfort. The primary bedroom, with its own gas fireplace, is of generous proportion with windows facing east and west. The en-suite bathroom is equally special with double vanities, separate shower stall, jacuzzi tub and bidet, radiant heat floors and all lit by natural light through skylights above. Double dressing rooms and a separate home office complement the owner's suite.

The top floor of the triplex home is the penthouse lounge or convertible to a third bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom. Folding retractable windows lead out to the spectacular rooftop deck - an additional 1,000 square feet of private outdoor space that comes equipped with a hot tub and outdoor projector. This impressive penthouse is further detailed with central air conditioning, in-unit washer/dryer and custom audio-visual throughout.

The Brick House Condominium, built in 1920 and converted in 2007, is home to eight units and boasts low carrying costs. Located on East 1st Street between Bowery and 2nd Avenue, the building is on the cusp of many downtown neighborhoods with convenient access to eateries, shopping and transportation.

There is currently an assessment of $787.76 per month until February 28, 2031. The building's exterior parapet is under repair with work to extend for approximately 12 months. As such, the main terrace is not accessible.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
