Property Description for 55 Vestry Street, 5-A

55 Vestry Street Apt. 5A (also known as 415 Washington Street Apt. 5A)
You will immediately feel welcomed as the doors of the key locked elevator open into apartment 5A at The Fairchild and Foster Condominium. The magnificent Great Room boasts 21 foot ceiling heights and is flooded with natural light igniting sheer excitement as you enter this awe inspiring home! The current owner fell immediately in love with this room for its serenity, elegance, generosity of space and the light provided by the expansive double height arched windows. The Great Room is the heart of this home.

Originally a very elegant three bedroom, three bath, duplex condominium loft apartment (and easily returned to its original configuration), it is currently set up as a decadent one bedroom. This amazing home has an open chefs kitchen, additional living room (originally two additional bedrooms), fireplace, three bathrooms and two terraces, one for the downstairs and a second upstairs providing a quiet outdoor oasis for the envious primary bedroom suite. Truly a feast for the eyes and a respite for the soul that will tempt even the most discerning connoisseur.

Upstairs, Downstairs, in the Kitchen, in the Bath, on the Terrace, by the Fire, Live, Love and Laugh!

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
