Property Description for 130 West 30th Street, 4-A

Located in a Cass Gilbert designed prewar, art deco landmarked building, this exquisite 1,661 square foot home has gracious dimensions, perfect for entertaining and comfort. With striking 11' beamed ceilings and oversize windows, bask in its brightness and loft-like ambience. The entrance foyer leads to a dining space with the living room on the left and a 15'x12' home office/media room with a walk-in closet to the right. The impressive north facing living room is a perfect place to showcase your artwork. Floors are wide plank red oak hardwood and heat/AC can be individually controlled. A fabulous kitchen boasts beautiful white/gray Calcutta marble countertops and backsplash, and white oak cabinetry with under cabinet lighting. Appliances include a Sub-Zero refrigerator, Miele dishwasher, wine cooler, dedicated cold water filter and more. The generous eat-in kitchen has a large double pantry and Asko washer and vented dryer units. Quiet and bright, the corner northwest facing primary bedroom has unusually large closet space. In addition, enjoy an en-suite windowed marble bathroom with a deep soaking tub, large stall shower and 6' vanity with dual sinks. The second full bathroom showcases a limestone tub enclosure, pedestal sink and tumbled tile floor. Custom closets throughout. All windows have screens. The renowned architect Cass Gilbert, whose storied commissions include the Woolworth Building, US Custom House, New York Life and US Supreme Court, was tasked, in the late 1920s, to build 130 West 30th Street. Originally a manufacturing loft, the Assyrian-styled building, complete with reliefs in polychrome terracotta, is still considered bold and exotic. Look up at the captivating motif over the entrance and at the friezes marking each setback of the building. In 2003 the building was gut renovated and converted to beautiful, spacious condominium residences, with interiors created by the award winning designer Shamir Shah. Of course, the exterior remains a stunner. On the northern edge of Chelsea, sometimes called NoMad, enjoy the crossroads of art, fashion, flowers and cuisine. Blink Fitness gym is directly across the street and Madison Square Park, Eataly, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, the new Empire Station Complex and The High Line are all in the neighborhood. Transportation, shopping and restaurant options abound. Pets welcome. Both Fios and Spectrum are available. Part time attended lobby, seven days per week. Basement storage bins are available to rent. There is an upcoming assessment for both aesthetic and functional capital improvements.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
