Property Description for 414 East 52nd Street, 2-A

This generously proportioned apartment offers split bedrooms and features prewar details including original hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, wood burning fireplace and an abundance of closets, including four walk-ins. The living/dining area measures in excess of 30-feet by 13-feet, allowing multiple options for furniture arrangement to fit your lifestyle. A wall of built-in shelving and a wood-burning fireplace add to the prewar charm of Apartment 2A. The newly renovated chef's kitchen was designed with floor-to-ceiling storage, Caesarstone countertops and top-of-the-line appliances including Thermador 36-inch range with built-in grill, a Thermador dishwasher and Liebherr refrigerator. While standing at the kitchen sink, you will enjoy the view overlooking Southgate's communal garden. There are two king-sized bedrooms. The primary bedroom has a beautifully renovated ensuite bath with Duravit sink and walk-in Toto monsoon shower. What was originally designated as dressing area in the past, can easily serve as today's home-office. The Emory Roth-designed Southgate cooperative enjoys its tree-lined location on one of the city's most exclusive cul-de-sacs, shared with the famed River House. This is a full-service co-op with on-site management, bike room, magnificent private gardens, and a children's play area. The building allows up to 80% financing and there is a 2% Flip Tax to be paid by the buyer. The building is pet friendly and allows pied-a-terre ownership. Washer/Dryer allowed with board approval. Electricity is included in the maintenance.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
