Property Description for 459 Henry Street

Located on one of Cobble Hill's most beautiful landmark blocks, this gut renovated, single family home is the epitome of modern townhome living. 20' wide with four stories and a partially finished basement, you will be welcomed home with tasteful high-end finishes, rock solid infrastructure, glorious outdoor spaces, and all of the bells and whistles that make life so much easier.

Up the stoop, enter into a modern, airy wide-open parlor floor. Over ten-foot ceilings and nearly floor to ceiling front windows are the highlights of the gracious living space with an extra-large seating area and a dining area created with a custom walnut bench. Spanning the full width of the house, this kitchen is something dreams are made of. Custom teak cabinetry is the backdrop for this impeccable space with top-of-the-line appliances from Thermador and a Subzero 36" refrigerator. Breccia marble is the centerpiece on the oversized island with counter seating. A powder room is also neatly tucked away below the stairs. A custom steel and glass rear window wall lets the light pour in and provides access onto the massive terrace, one of the most unique features of the home, with ipe decking, and a plumbed DCS gas grill. At 16' deep, there is room for both full-sized dining and lounging. Overlook the fully landscaped yard, with a dining structure accented by climbing vines in the summer, ipe and bluestone decking and mature planting surrounds. Indoor-outdoor living abounds with enticing landscaped and irrigated outdoor spaces accessible to the home's living areas.

On the garden level is the other home's other entry point. Under the stoop, come home to a huge mud room, where you'll drop scooters or wet boots. Continue inside where you will find a beautiful guest room with en suite bath. Further along is the home's family room, and beyond is a lovely sun-bathed office looking into the yard. A kitchenette on this floor is perfect for movie night snacks and morning coffee for your guests. An additional full bathroom on this floor is great for family bath time or post workout showers. Just below is the full height super-clean cellar, with an extra fridge and freezer, 131-bottle wine fridge and dedicated home gym, in addition to tons of extra storage space.

Back upstairs, on the second floor, are two spacious bedrooms, one overlooking charming and leafy Henry Street and the other, the townhouse backyards. A huge bathroom sits off the hall, with a deep Duravit soaking tub and Happy D fixtures. Between the two bedrooms is a den/homework room/cozy crash pad, flanked with a large closet and built-in bookshelves.

The top floor features the impressive and zen-like primary suite. The bedroom sits at the front of the house, with soaring ceilings and three windows across gazing out to Brooklyn treetops. There is ample room for king bed plus office, or separate seating area. At the other end of the floor, is a second bedroom or den which beckons with East morning sun. Between these two rooms is an oversized walk-in closet fully fit out to accommodate any wardrobe. The primary bathroom features Calacatta floor tile, Nero Marquina wall tile and a custom walnut vanity and medicine chest. An oversized Duravit soaking tub and brass Waterworks fittings complete this stylish and functional bathroom. The full sized, vented washer and dryer are also found off the hall on this floor.

Fully equipped with Lutron lighting systems, Sonos speakers - including four invisible ceiling speakers on the parlor floor, a whole house water filtration system, copious closet space, designer lighting, tasteful slimline Runtal radiators and multizone AC - this impeccable house is truly ready for you to move right in. Deeded parking in the area is also available for sale. Broker/Owner.

Cobble Hill | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The neighborhood now known as Cobble Hill was originally settled by Dutch farmers in the mid-1600s. Tucked along the East River, in the heart of Brooklyn, Cobble Hill is known for its welcoming, leafy streets, independent mom-and-pop shops, and 19th century brownstones.

Most of Cobble Hill lies within an historic landmark district, and building heights are restricted to 50 feet, which helps maintain its 19th century atmosphere. Building owners will often split the use of their four- or five-story buildings, occupying several of the top floors and renting out the ground floor as apartments or, conversely, occupying one or more of the lower floors and renting out the top floors. New construction and alterations to existing buildings in the historic district require approval by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, which helps maintain the historic character of the Cobble Hill neighborhood.

Although most housing in Cobble Hill consists of traditional brownstones and brick townhouses,, you will also find churches that have been converted to condos, carriage houses that have become luxury apartments and Victorian school houses that have been converted into lofts.

Court Street and Atlantic Avenue are the main commercial streets in the neighborhood. You will find popular Middle Eastern restaurants on Atlantic Avenue. Court Street is home to casual restaurants, many with outdoor seating, relaxed cafes and hip bars.

Many young professionals and families live in the brownstones, townhouses, and single-family homes that line the leafy streets. Cobble Hill is a great place to live if you work on Wall Street, as you can walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to work.
