Property Description for 251 East 32nd Street, 16-E

Sunlit and beautifully renovated convertible two-bedroom home at Riverview East: one of the most desirable doorman buildings in Kips Bay. This east-facing high-floor apartment is flooded with sunlight. It features open city views, a generously proportioned living space, a flexible open layout, and four oversized custom outfitted closets (two of which are walk-ins). The stunning chef's kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, custom cabinetry, gorgeous pendant lighting, and a large quartzite island that flows seamlessly into the living and dining space, making it perfect for entertaining. Next to the kitchen, there is a spacious walk-in pantry with wall-to-wall storage. The dining alcove has the potential to be converted into a second bedroom or home office while still leaving ample space for a couch and dining table in the living room. The spacious master bedroom can accommodate a king-size bed and has an impressive six-and-a-half-foot-wide walk-in custom closet. This home also features a beautifully designed bathroom with marble and polished ceramic tile. No expense was spared. In addition to a completely new kitchen and bathroom, this home also includes thoughtfully designed cove lighting, beautifully re-finished floors, and solid doors. Riverview East is conveniently located moments away from Trader Joe's, Fairway, Target, and plenty of other shops and restaurants. It is also perfectly situated near the subway, bus, and East 34th Street Ferry. Riverview East is a pristine full-service co-op with a 24-hour doorman, live-in super, garage, well-maintained laundry room, and bike room. The building is pet-friendly and allows two pets (under 40 pounds). Subletting is permitted after two years of ownership, for two out of five years. Sorry, no pieds-à-terre or guarantors. Riverview East just underwent extensive upgrades including new planters, awning, and security system complete with cameras in both hallways and elevators. As well, the garage has been upgraded. *The first listing image shows the current configuration of the unit. The second image shows what your living room and kitchen would look like if the second bedroom was added.

Kips Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

If you take a walk through Kips Bay, which is loosely defined as the area between 23rd street and 34th street and the East River to almost Lexington, you’ll quickly learn it's a hodgepodge of sorts and not as well defined as other neighborhoods in New York City. Some New Yorkers say Kips Bay has an identity crisis because 1st, 2nd, and 3rd avenues are distinctly different from one another as you traverse them. Despite the perceived lack of neighborhood vibe there are others that appreciate its affordability and convenience.

First Avenue is dominated by hospitals and hospital buildings such as NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital to name a few. Second Avenue is a mosaic of convenience stores, fast food joints and nondescript brick buildings. Third Avenue is saturated with small bars and gastropubs and the twenty somethings that patronize them.

No judgement against Kips Bay here. It’s a great neighborhood that is just as much a part of New York City as any other neighborhood. Kips Bay It’s bordered by Murray Hill to the North, Stuyvesant Town and Gramercy Park to the South, and Rose Hill to the West. The neighborhood is partly defined by newer high-rise apartments, brick rowhouses, and former tenement buildings.
