Property Description for 51 Jay Street, 4-C

STYLE AND SPACE, LIGHT AND LOCATION - COME HOME TO DUMBO!

This lightly-used home in a stunning 2017 new development has it all. To begin, there are true floor-to-ceiling casement windows in every room, one of only a few such units in the building. The high ceilings and corner great room allow light to dance throughout the day, enhanced even more by a view of the East River one block away.

With a very spacious and well-configured 1,945 SF, this 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath apartment offers both high-end luxury and style, derived from the architectural vision of firm ODA for this converted warehouse. A loft-like ethos is combined with modern-day details and design. Herringbone-patterned oak floors are found throughout the home, immediately welcoming in the large foyer and gallery that leads into the heart of this home. The great room is quite simply, breath-taking. It also offers enough space for entertaining on a grand scale. The open kitchen at one end is anchored by a La Rochelle Gris marble slab island, with bar-style seating for several people. Gaggenau appliances are integrated seamlessly into the design with custom cabinetry by Aster Cucine. A chef couldn't ask for more.

The primary bedroom suite is sumptuous in size and filled by light. The ensuite bathroom is striking with its marble floor and counters, a copper-trimmed double vanity and glass-enclosed wet room with a rain shower and deep-soaking tub. The second and third bedrooms are well-proportioned, one with ensuite bath and both with warm western light.

Additional features in this home include central heat and air conditioning, electronic shades in every room, washer and dryer and many closets. The apartment also comes with a private storage unit. Additionally, there is an indoor parking space available for purchase separately.

Amenities at 51 Jay Street abound, starting with a full-time doorman and concierge services, a fitness and yoga room, resident's lounge, children's playroom, pet spa, bike room, laundry room and best of all, a landscaped rooftop terrace complete with outdoor kitchen, grill and fireplace. Moreover, the immediate neighborhood is incredibly enticing. Brooklyn Bridge Park along the river front is one block away with numerous recreational offerings. Shopping, dining and entertainment choices surround the area, with many more in the works.

Dumbo | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

DUMBO, which is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, used to be a lively industrial and manufacturing zone, full of large factories and warehouses. These buildings have now been converted into expansive lofts, theaters, galleries, and office spaces for start-up companies. These larger residential spaces are attractive to families and creative artists and writers who need space to dream and create.

DUMBO was named in 1978 as a sort of reverse marketing ploy to try to keep people from swarming into the area, attracted by the quaint tree-lined streets, elegant historic brownstones, large lofts, and views of Lower Manhattan. It was felt that this influx of people would change the nature of the neighborhood. It was hoped that by giving the area a ridiculous name, nobody would want to live there.

Many of the neighborhood’s bars, hotels, and restaurants capitalize on the stunning waterfront views and the Manhattan skyline in the background. Interesting and fun cultural events are held under and around the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges that connect DUMBO to Manhattan. One of these is the annual Oktoberfest.

With beautiful vignettes of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges being framed around every corner, DUMBO provides residents and tourists with charming, and often surprising, views. Because the neighborhood is eminently walkable and filled with unique shops, it feels like a small town on the edge of a major urban waterfront. Once people move to DUMBO, they tend to stay and become involved in the community.
