Property Description for 5 East 44th Street, 3-A

Enjoy middle-of-it-all excitement and boutique building serenity in this gorgeous loft-like one-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bathroom home in a contemporary Midtown condominium.

Arrive at this expansive 876-square-foot residence via a semi-private elevator landing shared by just one other unit. Inside, a wall of south-facing windows immediately ties the home to its iconic Manhattan surroundings. New plank floors with character and soaring ceilings amplify the light airiness, while the just shy of 30-foot-long living space provides a generous footprint for seating, dining and home office areas alongside dazzling architectural views. Head to the open Bulthaup kitchen to discover glossy lacquer cabinetry, wide countertops and upscale stainless-steel appliances. A large coat closet and chic powder room add convenience near the entry. The sizeable bedroom can easily accommodate a desk or seating area alongside oversized windows, while two roomy closets attend to wardrobe needs. In the en suite spa bathroom, you'll find beautiful floor-to-ceiling tile, a large tub/shower, floating vanity, and Toto Neorest commode. Central HVAC and an in-unit washer-dryer complete this peaceful urban sanctuary.

Number 5 is a sleek, modern condominium by Philip Johnson-Alan Ritchie Architects design collection that cuts a striking figure against the traditional buildings of Midtown. Residents of the boutique enjoy full-time doorman service weekdays from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., plus a virtual doorman system and live-in superintendent.

In this superb Midtown location, you're surrounded by the absolute best of Manhattan living, including world-class dining, nightlife, shopping, and entertainment. Explore nearby Bryant Park's greenery and year-round calendar of events, or peek inside the legendary main branch of the New York Public Library. The Theater District, Madison Square Garden and Whole Foods are within easy reach, and Grand Central terminal offers a wonderful food hall, Apple Store, Oyster Bar and more. Transportation options are abundant with 4/5/6, S, 7, B/D/F/M, E and N/Q/R/W subway lines, Metro-North trains, excellent bus service, CitiBikes, the FDR and Queens-Midtown Tunnel all nearby.

Midtown East | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Midtown West and Midtown East have a lot in common. They’re bustling, iconic, and full of people. But just like siblings, their personalities can be vastly different. Midtown East is a bit more sophisticated and doesn’t quite have the vivacity and unruliness that its westerly counterpart exudes.

Midtown East is bordered by 42nd to the south, 59th Street to the north, 5th Avenue to the west, and 3rd Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is famous for its high-end stores, tourist attractions, posh hotels (budget ones too), and iconic architecture. Midtown East is also one of the largest financial and business hubs in Manhattan. During normal business hours the sidewalks are full of commuters and people moving from point A to point B. In the early evening, when the masses have left for the day, things suddenly get a little quieter and the sidewalks have a lot less foot traffic.

Although largely a commercial neighborhood, residential areas of Midtown East do exist on the eastern section of the neighborhood.

Grand Central Station is located in Midtown East and like Midtown West, it’s an extremely commutable neighborhood. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains whisk people in and out of the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Grand Central Station also serves as a hub for New York State and Connecticut commuter rails. These trains can take you anywhere along the Hudson River or up into Connecticut. It’s perfect for day tripping.
