Property Description for 860 United Nations Plaza, 30-E

860 UN Plaza, 30E Turtle Bay, New York Live the Manhattan dream at the exclusive 860 UN Plaza, in a wonderfully spacious, light-filled luxury apartment overlooking the East River! Perched high on the building's 30th floor, affording an oasis of calm and elegance, 30E is a fabulous corner apartment with the closest positioning to the river, offering the best water and panoramic city views from every room! Walls of windows lining the southern side of the apartment invite in generous sunshine all day and create a magical backdrop of open vistas that are truly beyond compare. The enormous 3,300 square foot home is currently configured with 3 bedrooms and 4.5 baths but is extremely versatile to fit your needs. The original 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath layout (floor plan provided) can easily be converted back; plus there's a 2nd alternative layout (see 3rd floor plan design) presenting an option to convert the existing library into a 4th bedroom if desired. Interiors were finely renovated by a renowned designer who utilized all high-end finishes, furnishings and materials, from rich hardwood floors to marble baths, custom walk-in closets, motorized windows shades and blinds, upscale lighting on dimmers, and premium stainless steel appliances by Viking, Sub-Zero and Miele. An elegant gallery with a powder room and closet greets your arrival. Enjoy entertaining in the expansive southeast corner living room with an adjoining open dining area and breathtaking scenes of the river and cityscapes. Connected to the dining room is an eat-in kitchen that's bright, inviting, and well-appointed for the gourmet chef. The huge primary bedroom (once 2 bedrooms as you'll see in the original floor plan) sits in its own private wing right above the river and is a tranquil retreat with awing views, 3 large walk-in closets, and an oversized marble-clad 5-fixture bath. In-home laundry with a washer, dryer and sink optimizes the allure of this very rare and special offering. The 39-story bronze and glass 860 United Nations Plaza was designed by the renowned Wallace Harrison & Max Abramovitz, lead architects for the UN headquarters complex and other iconic buildings like Time-Life at Rockefeller Center, and creators of the master plan for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. 860 and its sister tower 870 enjoy a prestigious address between 48th and 49th Streets, and offer the finest in luxury, comfort and security. Home to some of NYC's most notable names, the building has a block-long private drive for parking beneath a sleek glass porte-cochere. Inside awaits a handsome double-height lobby manned by 24-hour doormen. Other amenities include concierge service, porters, onsite management, a well-equipped fitness center, Pilates room, planted courtyard, furnished sundecks, inside-access garage with valet, laundry facilities, plus bike & storage rooms. The attached playground and adjacent dog park are great for kids & pets! The prime location is at the crossroads of Beekman Place, Turtle Bay and Sutton Place, minutes from upscale shops and restaurants, gourmet food markets, lovely parks, cultural institutions, and public transportation. Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
