Property Description for 50 Pine Street, 5-S

Welcome to your perfect downtown two bedroom home located on a quiet street in the FiDi, with all of the best amenities and conveniences right at your fingertips. This modern apartment in a prewar setting offers Southern light, with three other exposures, loftlike over 10-foot ceilings with large dramatic windows, and superb high-end finishes.

Upon entry, step into your foyer with refinished gorgeous wood flooring throughout, and an open plan living/dining area with a picturesque view to the storied buildings of lower Manhattan. Relax in your living room featuring a floor to ceiling custom bookcase and entertainment center, while gazing at the architectural history of downtown New York. There is a proper dining area and room for a home office, and the kitchen features Italian black honed granite that is paired with custom dark ebonized oak cabinetry. The modern kitchen includes a new Samsung professional style 30" gas cooktop and Broan externally vented oven. (Please note the kitchen could optionally be opened up to the living room by removing the wall if an open kitchen is desired; view the alternate floorplan or unit 6S in Streeteasy's past sales to see how this can be done.

The bedrooms are both generously-sized and have ample closet space. The main bedroom is quiet and offers privacy in the back, again with a floor to ceiling custom book and storage shelf, room for an exercise bike, and ensuite bath. Both bathrooms have a spa-like quality with Zuchetti chrome faucets and 20-inch-deep Zuma soaking tub. To round out convenience, there is a dedicated laundry closet with a washer and dryer that vents out, and the unit also has central A/C and heat with variable control.

Unit 5S has dedicated private storage space in the building, and the taxes with the city condo abatement are reasonable. The owners recently refinished the floors and put in the Samsung cooktop, in addition to other upgrades over the course of ownership. 50 Pine Street features part-time super, 3 elevators, bike storage, and a newly renovated lobby. With just 20 apartments total and 2 apartments per floor, the building maintains an intimate feel.

Step out of your door to an abundance of restaurants, including Harry's NYC, Delmonico's, Crown Shy, Manahatta, and Pier 17's notables, including Jean George's The Fulton, and David Chang's Momofuku Ssam Bar. In addition, there are shops, gyms, amenities, the iPic theater at the Seaport 28, and the transportation hub at Fulton Center right outside your door that will take you anywhere. Liberty development (Fosun Plaza) is coming soon that will house many shops and restaurants, including the Alamo Drafthouse cinema and Whole Foods. The amazing shops at the Oculus and Westfield World Trade Center with the French "Eataly" Le District are just a short walk, and the greenery of Battery Park offer stunning water views, running paths and lounging/exercise space. This is New York living at its best and it awaits you!

Financial District | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The Financial District (FiDi) today is a bit of a hybrid neighborhood, as the residential component continues to grow in an area that has been historically dominated by the financial and insurance industries. The residential experiment, which began more than two decades ago, continues to evolve in an area with a large concentration of older, large office buildings. Developers have taken to these aged buildings and have re-positioned them as residential properties. In turn, the public spaces, services and retail establishments needed for a thriving residential neighborhood have followed making this an important destination for city residents.

Since 2000, the residential population of the Financial District has nearly tripled in size from about 23,000 residents to more than 60,000 inhabitants. Many of the residential pioneers to FiDi were people attracted to the lower rents in the neighborhood, particularly the post-collegiate crowd. While the millennials still maintain a large footprint here, there are plenty of families that now consider the Wall Street area home.

Many of those that live in the Financial District walk to work. If you reside here and need to commute elsewhere, the transportation from here is about as good as it gets. Express trains can take you to Midtown, either east or west, in twenty minutes. Brooklyn is but a single subway stop away. There are also ferries across to Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
