Property Description for 912 Saint Nicholas Ave

Located in historic Sugar Hill, this newly renovated townhouse has two tri-plex units, both beautifully and thoughtfully designed. Rarely do we see this level of quality in materials and finishing work, and such a successful application of the coveted chic-modern design. The top unit has an open kitchen/dining plan on the living room floor, plus a powder room and washer/dryer. Three bedrooms and two full baths on the bedroom floor, and on the floor above, a rooftop studio which opens out to a roof deck with open views. The bottom apartment has two beds, an office/den and two full baths. The open living plan floor offers all the features of the other, plus the added charm of private outdoor space. The third floor of the unit offers a large media room and tons of storage.

The tile and mosaic work in all the bathrooms and kitchens in both units is masterfully done, elegant hardwood floors throughout, large windows and East/West views allow for bountiful natural light. This townhouse, in the legendary and increasingly popular neighborhood of Sugar Hill, offers an opportunity to get a mint property at a great price. A historic home, built in 1860, where everything inside is brand new; structurally, all systems, plumbing and electrical. The best of both worlds, history and modern elegance. Another quality property designed by 43Hundred/Mosaic GC. Sprinkler system installed for added protection.

Washington Heights | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Washington Heights, a hilly neighborhood on Manhattan’s northern tip known for its affordable apartments, preserved pre-war buildings, and Dominican food. Some would argue that it's a hidden gem and one of Manhattan's last neighborhoods that has retained its culture. The large swath of land is bordered by Inwood to the north along Dyckman Street, by Harlem to the South along 155th Street, by the Harlem River to the east, and the Hudson River to the West. It is the highest natural point on the Island of Manhattan.

Despite its high residential density, Washington Heights and Inwood have not seen modern housing construction in more than a decade other than relatively small housing units. Midtown Manhattan, Battery Park, TriBeCa, Chelsea, and Hell’s Kitchen, on the other hand, have seen an increase in building. Most of the high rise construction belongs to hospitals such as New York Presbyterian, Columbia University Medical Center, and educational institutions like Yeshiva University and Boricua College.

Washington Heights has access to amazing green spaces like The Cloisters, Fort Washington Park, Highbridge Park and Fort Tryon Park. There is no shortage of historical landmarks either. Remember General George Washington set up his camp in Washington Heights during the Revolutionary War. He used the elevated neighborhood to his tactical advantage to spot the Redcoats. As history would have it, his plan didn’t work out so well and the British occupied New York for seven years.
