Property Description for 14 East 4th Street, 1124

Penthouse 1124 is an extraordinary 1453SF mint-condition residence spread out over the top three floors of the sought-after Silk Building in the heart of NoHo. The incredible renovation was conceived of and completed by Present Architecture, Harrison Green landscape architects, and an exceptional Manhattan contractor over the course of 18 months. The result is a bespoke one-of-a kind home that combines custom finishes and materials, a superb use of space, and is topped off by a stunning planted terrace with views of downtown Manhattan.

The first level of the home offers an entry closet and a home office / den with en-suite bath with dual vanity, shower with bench seating, and two bedroom closets.

The main level of the residence features an additional home office / den also with en-suite bathroom with Bianco Carrara Pisanino marble and walnut millwork. The extraordinary great room is complete with a wood-burning fireplace and custom chef's kitchen with Sub-Zero, Miele, and Wolf appliances, Danby marble countertops, and custom Ash millwork cabinetry. An office nook with the same custom Ash millwork provides a visual separation between the living and dining / kitchen areas.

The bright and airy top level of the home offers a bedroom / den that opens up to the planted private rooftop terrace. With expansive views of the surrounding neighborhood, beautiful plantings, and Ipe wood, the terrace is fully irrigated and is complete with an integrated outdoor grill and serving station.

With soaring ceilings, excellent light, built in storage in every corner, custom lighting, and more, this home truly combines a new development caliber renovation within a landmark pre-war building.

14 East 4th Street, the Silk Building, is a rare full-service condominium located in the heart of one of downtown Manhattan's most sought-after neighborhoods, NoHo. With a full time doorman and common roof deck, the building sits at the crossroads of Greenwich Village, SoHo, Union Square, and the East Village. Noho | Manhattan

Quick Profile

NoHo, an acronym for North of Houston, is a trendy neighborhood with expansive lofts, chic shops, and hip eateries. It was once part of Greenwich Village, but as New York City changes and coolness always redefines itself, the neighborhood, which is more like a small nook, has morphed into a happening secession of its own.

Like many New York City neighborhoods, the boundaries are subjective and the exact location always depends on who you ask. Generally, NoHo is understood to be bounded by East Eighth Street to the north, East Houston Street to the south, Bowery Street to the east (which becomes Cooper Square north of East Fourth Street), and Broadway to the west.

It’s hard to believe that NoHo was once a sketchy no-man’s land with more than its share of dilapidated structures. These gentrified days, it’s a healthy mix of older buildings, renovated warehouses and newer construction by iconic architects. For such a small area, NoHo has three historic districts that cover much of the neighborhood.

Broadway, Bowery, and Lafayette is the business district of the neighborhood. You’ll find it all in this neck of the woods. From trendy one of a kind retailers to popular brand stores. It rivals its SoHo neighbor in places to shop.

Architecture buffs get your walking shoes on. There are many historical and modern buildings throughout the neighborhood. Colonnade Row, the Cable Building, and the Schermerhorn Building are just a few of the many notable buildings you’ll find.
