Property Description for 433 East 51st Street, 12-F

This sleek home, with its clean lines and lack of ornamentation, is welcoming and livable. Totally renovated, the strategic reconfiguration keeps the living/sleeping area separated from the kitchen/dining area but still allows light to flow through. Even though it is small, the foyer creates a grand entrance. The efficient and functional windowed kitchen has a modern character: simple cabinetry, industrial hardware, gloss countertops, penny-tile backsplash and factory-inspired pendant lights. The high end appliances include a Miele cooktop and dishwasher, Bosch microwave and Liebherr refrigerator. Because of the well-organized and outfitted closets, this tightly-edited home is anything but cluttered. A "Tiny Tim" that is comfortable and stylish. The purchase of Apartment #12F does not require "Board Approval".

433 East 51st Street is one of the five Art-Deco inspired buildings that comprise the desirable Southgate complex. Developed in 1931 by Bing and Bing and designed by the renowned New York architect Emery Roth, these building feature full-time doormen, landscaped garden, laundry room, bike room and on-site management office. The maintenance includes electricity.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
