Property Description for 252 Seventh Ave, 4-D

Welcome to The Chelsea Mercantile, former headquarters to a luxury garments company. Situated at 252 7th Avenue, this condominium is one of Chelsea's most coveted locales. Apartment 4D is a beautifully renovated, rarely-available true 3-bed/2.5-bath home with over 1,934 sq ft of living space and soaring 11’ ceilings. A classic Loft with a contemporary design. As you enter the home you are welcomed into a gallery hallway with oak plank flooring, large walls, and high ceilings. The wall space creates the ideal display for your favorite artwork. The apartment opens into a Northern exposure where you will find a large great room/open concept layout with oversized windows that bring in plenty of sunlight. The expansive gourmet kitchen is outfitted with high-end stainless steel appliances, a sizable refrigerator, dishwasher, Blue Star stove, a microwave island with multiple drawers, beautiful countertops, and a custom backsplash. The modern cabinetry provides ample storage and a pantry area. The three bedrooms have Southern exposure, a pin-drop quiet courtyard view, and oversized windows. The spacious primary bedroom has multiple closets and can accommodate a sitting room/home office. The ensuite bathroom has two beautifully designed ceramic sinks, chrome fixtures, and a sizable shower. The second and third bedrooms are big enough for all your live/work needs. They have elegantly designed separate baths -- one full and one powder room -- both with custom sinks and floating vanities. The in-unit Bosch washer/dryer completes the home. The Chelsea Mercantile is a pre-war luxury full-service condominium with a limestone facade and a freshly renovated grand lobby that still boasts the original Moroccan terracotta mosaic floor. The full-time concierge, doorman, live-in super, and valet service. The amenities also include a beautiful gym, a children’s playroom, a personal storage unit, an entrance in the building to a parking garage and to the Whole Foods on the ground level, and a 10,000 sq ft landscaped roof deck with views of all the way down NYC skyline to the Statue of Liberty! Nearby, the 1, E/C and F trains, M23 crosstown bus, and the M20 7th Avenue bus will take you anywhere you want to go. You can also stay in the neighborhood and enjoy Chelsea Piers, the West Chelsea Galleries, and all the culture, shopping, fine dining, and nightlife of Downtown. (There is an ongoing assessment of $283. monthly).

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
