Property Description for 422 West 20th Street, 5-A

RENTED ---- Beauty & Serenity! Penthouse living!

Stunning three-Bedroom floor-thru residence located in a restored elevator townhouse on one of the most treasured landmarked tree-lined blocks in West Chelsea.

As you enter this stylish home, a welcoming and spacious foyer offers a sitting room with beautiful western light. Appointed with Colefax & Fowler wallpaper, this flexible space sets the stage for this elegant home.

Moving to the right, a short hallway, with a large walk-in closet and a separate washer/dryer closet, leads to the chef’s kitchen with Bosch and Liebherr appliances, deep stone countertops, a custom glass-tiled backsplash, free-floating shelving, abundant cabinetry, and a multi-zoned 24 bottle temperature-controlled wine refrigerator.

This gorgeous kitchen also leads to the adjacent open and large dining area with very high ceilings and another window facing west.

Moving on further the showstopper living room also with very high ceilings, and absolutely magical and breath-taking views overlooks the lush gardens of the historic Theological Seminary, The Close, and other NYC landmark buildings such as the Empire State Building, from oversized wood sash windows.

Beautiful oak floors and a wall of custom milled cabinetry embellish these expansive rooms even further.

Elegantly and conveniently set on the south wing of this gorgeous home, you will be pleased with your three pin-drop quiet bedrooms each with fully-fitted closets and two tastefully renovated windowed bathrooms.

The sumptuous light-flooded south-facing primary bedroom suite is a sanctuary replete with a separate sitting area, an enormous walk-in closet, a second large closet, and an elegant en-suite bathroom with a deep soaking tub.

Additional amenities include central air-conditioning, an in-unit washer-dryer, Lutron lighting on dimmers, and exquisite custom mouldings throughout.

Designed by Neville & Bagge, and built in 1895, 422W20 was converted to a condominium in 2012 after being completely restored with new design elements by Alan Wanzenberg Architects.

Additional features are a part-time doorman (3-11 pm, 7 days/week), a full-time virtual doorman, a secure package room, a live-in superintendent, a bike room, a large private storage, a fully-equipped fitness center, a game room with a ping pong table, and a fantastic common roof deck with 360-degree open views of NYC, including Hudson Yards, as well as beautiful historic buildings, spires, and more. Pets are allowed.

You will have your own key for exclusive access to The Close, one of the most splendid private gardens in NYC located at the General Theological Seminary, directly in front of the building.

If you wish for a warm almond chocolate croissant or a delicious meal with friends at Kitchen, shopping at trendy stores in the meat-packing district, or just enjoying the many art galleries, and/or exploring the ever-changing and gorgeous west-side waterfront (the Highline, the Chelsea piers, the Little Island, the City Winery), there’s something really delicious and amazing waiting for you here!

Come see it for yourself! You will be impressed!!

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
