Property Description for 100 East 53rd Street, 50-A

Selene is designed by Pritzker-Prize winning architect Norman Foster and located on 53rd Street off Park Avenue in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The meticulously refined residences reflect a level of craftsmanship rarely evidenced in new development. Every detail, from the millwork, to the fittings, to the generously-scaled floor plans, is enhanced by the wondrous natural light and cinematic views framed by the custom floor-to-ceiling undulating windows. Residences enjoy an array of light and color throughout the day and captivating day-to-night compositions of New York's most celebrated architectural landmarks.

Residence 50A is a 3,385-square-foot full-floor home offering sweeping, panoramic views in every direction. A grand arrival gallery leads to a stunning great room and kitchen and dining area with three sprawling exposures with luminous floor-to-ceiling windows. Privately located at the opposite end of this impressive residence is the double-exposure primary suite replete with an expansive dressing area and a luxurious spa-inspired en suite bath.

This Sky Collection Residence is infused with natural light and feature multiple exposures along with Carlisle eight-inch oversized wide-plank white oak flooring and features Foster + Partners-designed custom millwork and bronze-finish, flush oak interior doors.

The graciously proportioned and purposely detailed open kitchens welcome informal entertaining. Residence 50A features Italian Carrara marble countertops and backsplashes, Foster + Partners-designed cabinetry with wire brush oak millwork, and a Gaggenau appliance suite.

Reflecting the luminous quality of light that bathes each residence, the primary bathroom is encased in the warm glow of Silver Striato travertine. This bespoke retreat features wire brushed oak vanities with bronze detailing, radiant heated flooring, steam showers and freestanding soaking tubs. In addition to travertine flooring, secondary baths provide custom Apaiser countertops with integrated sinks and powder rooms offer Agora Black Turkish marble countertops with integrated sinks.

Inspired by its neighboring Modernist masterpieces, the 63-story Selene is composed as a timeless contemporary landmark standing alongside the iconic Seagram Building and Lever House. Its signature glass faade enhances the residences within with cascading natural light. Selene further reinforces the clarity and luminosity of the design by its welcoming sanctuary provided by extraordinary lifestyle features and amenities.

Every lifestyle offering is thoughtfully considered and composed to rejuvenate and relax. Public spaces designed by AD100 recipient William T. Georgis are appointed with a museum quality art collection, anchored by an installation in the Fireside Lobby by celebrated artist Rachel Feinstein. Amenity spaces span four floors and are naturally lit by floor-to-ceiling glass walls. The 60-foot-long garden sanctuary swimming pool is surrounded by an arbor of trees. The enfilade of wellness spaces and lounges including The Spa, Fitness and Yoga Salons, Billiards Lounge, Conference Room and Library are finished with slatted oak and smokey granite. The Michelin-starred Le Jardinier restaurant-helmed by Chef Alain Verzeroli and the first New York City restaurant designed by AD100 recipient Joseph Dirand-is just an elevator ride away.

Selene is at the coveted apex of city sophistication, surrounded by the shopping of Fifth Avenue, the culinary destinations of Midtown, the cultural richness of MoMA, Carnegie Hall, Broadway, and iconic Central Park. Reflecting a level of craftsmanship rarely evidenced in new development, Selene is Living In A New Light.

Midtown East | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Midtown West and Midtown East have a lot in common. They’re bustling, iconic, and full of people. But just like siblings, their personalities can be vastly different. Midtown East is a bit more sophisticated and doesn’t quite have the vivacity and unruliness that its westerly counterpart exudes.

Midtown East is bordered by 42nd to the south, 59th Street to the north, 5th Avenue to the west, and 3rd Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is famous for its high-end stores, tourist attractions, posh hotels (budget ones too), and iconic architecture. Midtown East is also one of the largest financial and business hubs in Manhattan. During normal business hours the sidewalks are full of commuters and people moving from point A to point B. In the early evening, when the masses have left for the day, things suddenly get a little quieter and the sidewalks have a lot less foot traffic.

Although largely a commercial neighborhood, residential areas of Midtown East do exist on the eastern section of the neighborhood.

Grand Central Station is located in Midtown East and like Midtown West, it’s an extremely commutable neighborhood. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains whisk people in and out of the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Grand Central Station also serves as a hub for New York State and Connecticut commuter rails. These trains can take you anywhere along the Hudson River or up into Connecticut. It’s perfect for day tripping.
