Property Description for 125 Cooper Street

Enjoy modern townhouse living with a private backyard in this newly renovated multi-family home in quiet Bushwick. A pristine owner’s duplex and a separate garden level unit offer income-producing potential or the opportunity to create a multi-generational home.

Wide plank hardwood floors run throughout, while new sash windows let in an abundance of natural light. A lovely terracotta brown fac¸ade adds character and charm, and the spacious backyard has high fencing and gardening plots and is perfect for alfresco dining, entertaining, sun lounging, and grilling.

The 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom owner’s duplex begins with a floor-through living room, dining room, and kitchen with new recessed lighting, a laundry closet with a washer/dryer, and a convenient powder room. The kitchen overlooks the backyard and is equipped with an eat-in island, chic granite countertops, an elegant herringbone tile backsplash, custom cabinets, and high-end stainless steel appliances. All four bedrooms reside on the upper level of the duplex and have built-in storage. The primary bedroom has a pair of large reach-in closets and a private en-suite bathroom, and the remaining three bedrooms have easy access to a second full bathroom with contemporary hardware and finishes. One of the bedrooms also has a beautiful skylight.

The garden-level rental unit has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and an open-concept layout. The corner kitchen has custom cabinets and stainless steel appliances, and both bedrooms have reach-in closets and easy access to a modern full bathroom with a deep tub.

Situated in the eastern half of Bushwick, 125 Cooper Street is close to Ocean Hill and Brownsville and is moments from a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops. There are several playgrounds and schools in the area, and Rudd Skatepark and Irving Square and Saratoga Parks are also close by. Public transportation options include several local bus lines and the L/J/Z subway lines.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
