Property Description for 38 Troy Ave

Beautiful Bed Stuy Townhouse. This 20-foot-wide Double Duplex was fully renovated in 2017 and offers two enormous apartments, perfect as an income-producing asset or the ideal place to call home. Both units enjoy a fully open floor plan, high ceilings, hardwood flooring, decorative mantels, beautiful kitchens with center islands, and abundant light. The lower duplex is a desirable four-bedroom 1.5 bath residence with both garden access plus basement storage & laundry. A large upper duplex is accessed by the exterior stoop and feels amazingly private, as if a separate property. With the same open floor plan, this residence enjoys three bedrooms, one full and two half baths (one ensuite), and laundry. Currently occupied by month-to-month paying tenants, a vacancy may be a possibility. This home is shown privately by appointment. Sitting just outside The Crown Heights Historic District, 38 Troy enjoys the best of both neighborhoods. Enjoy the outdoors at Nearby Herbert Von King Park, and explore the nearby Brooklyn Children's Museum and the eateries lining Fulton and Utica. Transportation is easy with nearby A, C service and access to the Atlantic Avenue thoroughfare, Brooklyn's earliest Parkway, Eastern Parkway, and is your gateway to Prospect Park.

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
