This sun-filled, classic prewar 6-room home located in the heart of the Upper West Side offers a grand and gracious layout with two bedrooms (easily convertible three bedrooms), grand formal living and dining rooms, an expanded kitchen and large breakfast room and two full baths. Currently set up as a two bedroom with den/media room, the layout is very flexible with a vast 35' formal living room offering plenty of room for formal dining. The separate formal dining room can easily be configured as a den/media room (as it is currently) or as a third bedroom, if desired. With three exposures, south, east, and north and oversized windows in every room, the apartment is exceptionally bright and features open city views from high atop the 12th floor. Both the living room and formal dining room are full of brilliant light and equally impressive in scale, perfect for entertaining on a grand level with kitchen access in each room. This apartment will make an ideal primary residence.

Original classic details have been lovingly preserved including 9'3"-high-beamed ceilings, hardwood floors, large formal archway, and original moldings. The renovated kitchen and breakfast room (originally, a staff room) have granite countertops, granite floor tiles and custom cabinets and paneling which were made by master craftsmen from western NY state. The breakfast room is large enough for small gatherings. Top-line stainless appliances include Viking 4-burner gas range oven with stainless backsplash, Asko dishwasher, Sub-Zero refrigerator and under counter Miele washer and GE dryer cleverly concealed. Modern comforts include a renovated and enlarged primary bath and a renovated second bath, both baths with marble walls and floors, glass enclosures and brass fixtures, and custom-designed French doors and radiator covers throughout the interior.

The residence wing of the home is wonderfully separate from the formal expanse, fabulous for private living and entertainment. Both bedrooms are spacious sun-filled rooms with beautifully renovated ensuite bathrooms. Southern light is exceptional with a corner primary suite with both east and south-facing windows that features open city views. This impressive classic six-room home offers a wonderful selection of highly desirable features including grand scaled rooms, original prewar detail, extensive custom woodwork and renovations, extraordinary light, modern comforts, and the perfect Upper West Side location near all the best the neighborhood has to offer.

Upper West Side | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Bracketed on its east and west borders by massive city parks, the Upper West Side (UWS) is known for its greenery, stately and elegant townhomes, safe streets and great schools, all of which make it a very desirable neighborhood for families. The UWS has maintained its community feeling, making it attractive to young professionals and retirees, both of whom want a sense of belonging in the place they call home.

Here you’ll find many apartment buildings, especially those along Central Park West. Historic architecture abounds, anchored by four luxury co-ops - the San Remo, Majestic, Century and Eldorado apartments - all of which have two towers on their interiors. They were built in the 1930s and their design was predicated on a 1929 building code that imposed a height limit on residences facing the street. There are also impressive row houses near Riverside Drive throughout the W 70 and 80 Streets. Above the 90s, you will find smaller buildings where walk-ups are very reasonably priced.

There are several world-class museums and venues dedicated to the performing arts. Plentiful dining can be found in the UWS. You will find everything from quaint Jewish delis serving up bagels and a schmear to sophisticated fine dining that has earned multiple Michelin stars, and everything you could possibly want in between. There is also abundant shopping and a vibrant nightlife.
