Property Description for 405 Jefferson Ave, 2

This beautiful, 20’ wide brownstone underwent a complete gut renovation in 2020 and showcases a spectacular blend of classic details and modern upgrades. A professionally landscaped and irrigated front garden, complete with manicured climbing roses and a Japanese Maple specimen tree greet you as you walk through the front gate of the home. The parlor floor of the owner’s triplex features soaring 10’2” ceilings and large casement windows that flood the floor with natural sunlight all day. A wood burning fireplace and two hand carved reclaimed marble fireplace mantels bookend the room. A marble tiled powder room is equipped with Kohler fixtures and a reclaimed wood door with antique brass hinges. A large chef’s kitchen features a Sub-Zero and Wolf appliance package, a wine fridge, Bosch dishwasher, and custom painted cabinets with Farrow & Ball Black Blue provides the perfect space to cook and entertain family and friends! Off the kitchen is a large deck overlooking the private backyard garden, perfect when you want to put your grill skills to the test and bring the party outdoors for Summer. The garden has been outfitted with SynLawn Turf and an automated irrigation system from Pacific Lawn Sprinklers to keep your custom landscaping thriving all year round. Upstairs are 3 spacious bedrooms and 3 skylights. The primary suite faces the garden and features custom Elfa closets by the Container Store. An en-suite marble bath with a double vanity and a large skylight bathes the bathroom in sunlight throughout the day. The spacious 2nd and 3rd bedrooms both face South over the tree tops and feel as though you are in a tree house! The 2nd bathroom boasts a soaking tub and the third skylight. Head down three flights to the completely finished basement where the attention to detail and care to the house is evident. Discerning Brooklyn homeowners and those new to the lifestyle alike will appreciate how much work has been done to completely waterproof the basement, including the installation of French drains and a special waterproofing foam membrane that keeps water out and adds an R-Factor to make the home more energy efficient. The basement also has an additional half bathroom and split system AC/heating and cooling. Additional highlights include hardwood Walnut floors throughout the home, a Miele W/D, recessed lighting with Lutron dimmers, custom Lutron electric shades in the living room and kitchen, Shade Store blackout blinds and window treatments upstairs, a fully automated NEST thermostat central AC and Heating system, NEST doorbell and lock and a CCV surveillance system and a Brinks security system. Set on a beautiful tree-lined block, close to all the best restaurants and shops Bed-Stuy has to offer, 405 Jefferson represents the epitome of Brooklyn brownstone living.

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
