Property Description for 284 Fifth Ave, 4-A

SPONSOR UNIT WITH NO BOARD APPROVAL. RENTING ALLOWED. PERFECT FOR INVESTORS! Residence 4A is a gorgeous south-facing studio. This stunning apartment is filled with exquisite nineteenth-century details, including beautiful inlaid parquet floors, Victorian-style moldings, soaring 12' ceilings, an original fireplace, and a built-in bookshelf. This unit is complete with two large closets, a dishwasher, and a large bathroom in this truly unique and special residence. The Wilbraham is a stunning, landmarked, pre-war co-op building located in the heart of NoMad. It was built in 1890 by prominent Scottish-American jeweler William Moir and was designed by D. & J. Jardine. The handsome, eight-story building once served as a bachelor's hotel and was an annex of the nearby Waldorf Astoria. The Wilbraham is an extraordinarily well-detailed reflection of the Romanesque Revival style, with its exterior featuring a splendid combination of Philadelphia brick, Belleville brownstone, and cast iron. An iconic cast-iron staircase connects all levels including the exquisitely restored lobby. The building was converted for cooperative use in 1989 and awarded landmark designation in 2004. An elevator services all floors of the impeccably maintained building, which also features an on-site laundry room. Nearby transportation includes the N/R/W/B/D/F/M (.1 mi), PATH (.2 mi), and 6 (.2 Mi). Equally a historic destination and a modern cultural phenomenon, NoMad is figuratively and literally the center of New York City culture. It is here that fine dining, hospitality, shopping, nightlife, arts, and culture find common ground. The neighborhood blends the elegant architecture of the gilded age with the progressive and modern aesthetic of many visionary architects of the twenty-first century. Within just a few blocks you will find many boutique hotels including the globally celebrated Nomad hotel and the highly anticipated Virgin Hotel and Ritz-Carlton Nomad, with dining by Michelin-starred chef José Andrés. Landmark attractions such as the Empire State Building, The Flatiron Building, and Madison Square Park are steps away. SOME IMAGES ARE VIRTUALLY STAGED This is a co-exclusive with Reuveni.

NoMad | Manhattan

Quick Profile

NoMad, North of Madison Square Park, is a rectangular swath of land that is bordered by East 25th Street to the south, East 29th Street to the north, Sixth Avenue to the west, and depending who you ask, Madison or Lexington Avenue to the East. It’s had its acronymed name for over two decades but not every New Yorker calls the neighborhood NoMad.

Historic architecture, trendy hotels and restaurants and high-priced apartments - NoMad wasn’t always the coveted neighborhood that it is today. It’s gone through many transformations over the years. Including a red light district known as the Tenderloin in the 1880’s. It was a popular shopping destination and a place where high society held court in the mid 19th century. It was part of New York City’s Silicon Alley in the 1990’s.

As of lately, world class chefs and restaurants have moved into NoMad. It’s tied with Midtown Manhattan for having the most Michelin stars (six stars to date). Besides NoMad’s architecture, nightlife, and restaurants, we can’t forget the added perk of being close to other great neighborhoods and cultural institutions. NoMad’s central location makes it easier to get just about anywhere in the city. You can walk to Chelsea, West Village, Union Square or Grand Central Station in no time at all. The N, R, 1, 6, B, Q, F, and M are very close or just a few blocks away. Penn Station is also within walking distance.
