Property Description for 41 Fifth Ave, 15-E

With three exposures and picture-postcard, open views of Greenwich Village and downtown New York City, Apartment 15E in 41 Fifth Avenue is a splendid, light-filled, two-bedroom, one-bath home in Gold Coast Greenwich Village on Lower Fifth. Graciously proportioned rooms, windows in every room, nine-foot ceilings, walnut-toned oak floors and cove, wall and decorative moldings retain the character of the original architecture. The expansive living and dining room has southeast and southwest exposures, and the home's sense of openness makes it perfectly suited for contemporary living.

Just off the entry foyer is the eat-in kitchen with ample shaker cabinet storage and stainless steel appliances. The two large bedrooms, which could each fit a king-sized bed and additional furniture, include closets with built-ins. An archway leads to the primary bedroom, which has both southeast and northeast exposures, and the second bedroom faces northeast. The bath features classic white tile, a full tub and a rainforest shower. Lutron dimmer light switches throughout the home. With plans approved by the cooperative's board of directors, the existing, additional quarter bath could be expanded or converted to a laundry room with washer and ventless dryer.

Completed in 1923 by renowned architect Rosario Candela in a modified Italian Renaissance Revival style with dark red brick and terra cotta details, 41 Fifth Avenue is a landmarked, elegant building yet with a discreet entrance on 11th Street. 41 Fifth Avenue is a pet-friendly community with a graceful lobby, a landscaped rooftop with panoramic views, laundry and bicycle storage, the attentive service of a resident superintendent, door and elevator staff and easy access to the A, B, C, D, E, F, L, M, N, Q, R, W, 1, 4, 5 and 6 trains.

Equidistant between iconic Washington Square Park and Union Square with its bountiful Greenmarket, and known as the Gold Coast, Lower Fifth Avenue is a seven-block neighborhood within Greenwich Village. Lower Fifth retains a timeless beauty because of its outstanding examples of early 20th Century architecture while also enjoying the energy which comes from neighbors Parsons School of Design, The New School and New York University.

On the United States National Register of Historic Places and a New York City Landmark, Greenwich Village is one of the city's centers of culture with theatres, jazz clubs, galleries and the Whitney Museum of American Art. The exciting nightlife of the Meatpacking District, the nature found along the Hudson River Greenway and on Little Island, local boutiques, and outstanding dining at Michelin-starred Blue Hill, Kosaka and Wallse and local favorites Gotham Restaurant, Ribalta, Veselka and Gelateria Gentile, make Greenwich Village one of the most attractive neighborhoods in New York City.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
