Property Description for 115 East 9th Street, 14-H

Residence 14H at 115 East 9th Street is a large, perfectly renovated two bedroom two bath Greenwich Village home with stunning views. This high floor, light-filled home is located in the St. Mark, a pristine mid-century modern full service cooperative building between Third and Fourth Avenues, just off Astor Place.

The east facing spacious 29’x12’ great room boasts oversized windows which afford stunning views to the east overlooking East 10th and Stuyvesant Streets and the picturesque steeple of St. Mark’s Church. The chef’s kitchen includes a 30” Liebherr fridge with double freezer and ice maker, a Bosch dishwasher, and a 30” Samsung five burner gas range with a warming tray. The integrated appliances are neatly designed to lay behind the continuous vertical grained wall of millwork cabinets. To complete the flow, a delicately veined quartz countertop wraps around forming a waterfall edge which opens to the sizable dining area. A slim island maximizes counter space and storage.

The massive corner primary bedroom suite features large custom closets and double exposures - to the east over 10th toward the East Village and St. Marks Church, and to the north up Third Avenue including the iconic clock tower of the ConEdison building. The primary bathroom finishes include matte Calacatta patterned porcelain walls paired with striking Seta Nera marble floors arranged in a herringbone layout, a glass enclosed shower, Toto commode and designer Grohe fixtures. The tranquil wall-to-wall mirror with inset medicine cabinet and LED lighting elegantly completing the master suite.

The spacious second bedroom also features sizable closet space and those same beautiful views over the East Village. The second bathroom just across the hall achieves an expansive look with large porcelain tile which covers the walls and floors, contrasted with the bold matte black Kohler and Moen fixtures.

Other features of this lovely home include a grandfathered stackable Bosch washer and dryer, plenty of built out closets and pantry space, dark stained hickory wood flooring, and convenient PTAC heat and air conditioning units in each room.

The St. Mark is an impeccably managed full-service doorman building with resident superintendent, children's playroom, central laundry room, and parking garage with access from the building. Bicycle and basement storage are also available. The St. Mark is conveniently located near Astor Place where Greenwich Village meets the East Village with easy access to all public transportation. Close by are Union Square, Washington Square and Tompkins Square parks, and multiple supermarkets including Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and New York City’s first Wegman’s which is about to open.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
