Property Description for 55 Vernon Ave

Industrial vibes and modern finishes are ubiquitous in this quintessential two family Bed Stuy townhouse! Featuring exposed brick, decorative marble fireplaces, soaring ceilings and enormous windows highlighted by brass and gold hardware, beadboard wainscotting, and Edison bulb chandeliers- it doesn't get more Brooklyn than this!

New electrical, plumbing & mechanical
New Pella windows
Waterproofing throughout
A new roof
New 7" White Oak flooring, subflooring, walls and spray foam insulation

Stylish and classy, 55 Vernon welcomes you into the parlor level through a double glass door entry foyer that has space to keep your shoes and coats contained. A vent allows the central heat and air to permeate the space, greeting you and your guests upon arrival into total comfort. The parlor level sitting area has two huge windows and a gorgeous marble fireplace stationed under original exposed brickwork. Sconces, a modern farmhouse chandelier, and recessed lighting give you options to set the mood. Nestled between the living room and kitchen, the dining nook has space for a table that seats up to 6. The powder room has visually soft tile work and an industrial console sink on a brass stand from Signature Hardware.

Through sliding French pocket doors, the kitchen is a masterpiece of function and style. Featuring a monochrome color palate with a gold industrial chandelie, exposed shelves, Ceaserstone countertop, paneled appliances and North West sunshine. Sub Zero, Wolf, Thermador, and a wine fridge, double sinks with Moen faucets, and a pot filler above the range. A large glass door leads to the extra large deck that overlooks the garden that is accessible down a flight of stairs. Planter boxes surround the raised deck offering the perfect opportunity to show off your green thumb!

The entire parlor level has been prewired with a SONOS home sound system and Bluetooth speakers. Each unit also has an Intercom video entry system with multiple monitors. There is central heat and air throughout the home, with each unit on its own system. Multiple zones of lighting give you options depending on your mood, and the warmth of the hardwood floors and banisters round out the vibe.

Upstairs, 3 bedrooms await. The primary suite has an entire wall of windows, two closets, and gorgeous white washed exposed brick, with space for a king size bed, plus extra furniture. The stunning en suite bathroom has a huge walk in shower with double showerheads! And double sinks, of course.

In the hallway, a skylight floods the space with sunshine. A washer & dryer have already been installed, and the second full bathroom has a deep blue color palate with a deep soaking tub/shower combo.

Downstairs, a two bedroom rental with a washer & dryer and shared backyard will command approx. $3,500 in today's market. The cellar recreation space has 7' ceilings, and space for all your extra storage needs and home office privacy.

Less than 500 feet from the G at Myrtle/Willoughby, and a short walk to the J & M at Flushing. Around the corner from Marcy and Myrtle Cafe, plus tons of other local neighborhood hot spots including Lincoln Market, Kosciuszko Pool, and 6 blocks to Herbert Von King Park where you can enjoy outdoor movies and concerts all summer long.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
