Property Description for 221 McDonald Ave, 5-L

Expansive, finely-renovated 2 bedroom apartment in prime Windsor Terrace, in an impeccably-maintained elevator building located in one of Brooklyn’s most prized neighborhoods. This light-filled beauty boasting 1,075+/- square feet of living space is brightened by large windows facing north and west, and enriched by stunning refinished hardwood floors throughout. Many refined updates were done to this special home, from new pocket doors to privatize the generous living/dining room, to adding a convenient Murphy bed. More substantial renovations include gut-renovating the kitchen with new cabinets, countertops, backsplash, sink, floors and appliances; expanding the bathroom from the typical small L-line design and redesigning with new floors, tiles, tub, sink, wainscoting and linen closet. Even the wiring was updated, with direct lines for the AC units and GFCI outlets in the kitchen and bath. A gracious foyer greets your arrival spilling into a spacious gallery with a large closet. At right sits a huge living room and open dining area for entertaining. The well-appointed windowed kitchen has been tastefully redone and is perfect for the cook and host. Down the hall is an additional closet, and the elegantly updated windowed full bath. Sleeping quarters are positioned beyond in a quiet ‘wing,’ with the king-size primary bedroom enjoying sunlight from corner exposure windows. Built in 1953, 221 McDonald Avenue is a stately 100-percent owner-occupied cooperative surrounded by manicured lawns. The building offers a live-in super, private courtyard, laundry facility, recreation room, bike room, plus waitlisted storage and garage parking. Maintenance includes all utilities. Cats are allowed; sorry, no dogs. Situated near the lush Greenwood Cemetery, close to Prospect Park, restaurants, coffee shops, retail establishments, the F/G trains, Prospect Expressway and more!

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
