Property Description for 433 East 51st Street, PH-AC

Simply spectacular, this beautifully renovated duplex penthouse has East River and City views with several terraces providing unrivaled outdoor space with stunning views! This home is a perfect blend of indoor/outdoor living, with both dramatic and cozy living spaces. When entertaining, step off of a private landing into the top floor of the apartment, which leads to a breathtaking, 37 foot long living room with nearly 12 foot ceilings and a wood burning fireplace framed by a stunning stone mantle. The living room has three exposures providing both views of the River the City skyline. There are two different doors leading to the enormous terrace, which boasts West, North, and Eastern exposures along with multiple seating and dining areas, a grill, and gorgeous mature plantings.

A beautiful curved staircase with a custom fresco leads down to the "every day" grand gallery featuring a coat closet and powder room. (One can enter on this floor as well.) Off of the gallery is a beautifully renovated, sunlit kitchen and breakfast room boasting South facing windows. The kitchen features two ovens with both a gas and induction range, a Viking dishwasher, Subzero fridge and great storage space throughout. Next to the kitchen is a very large corner dining room with two exposures, a wood burning fireplace, and access to the wrap terrace. Off of the dining room is a full, windowed bathroom so the dining room could also be a den/guest room if formal dining is not needed.

On the other side of the gallery is the bedroom wing of the home. One oversized corner bedroom has 5 windows and two exposures providing beautiful views of the River as well as an entrance to the terrace. This bedroom has a en-suite bathroom as well as a walk-in closet. The primary bedroom suite begins with a large study featuring a beautiful, East facing bay window and built in desk and storage. Off of the study is a huge laundry room and walk-in closet with extra storage as well as a wine fridge. The primary bedroom features custom millwork, a fireplace with a gorgeous stone mantle, a marble bathroom with a soaking tub, a huge walk-in closet, and direct access to the North facing terrace.

Additional features of this home include three zones of nest central air conditioning, wiring for sound, over 9 foot ceilings on the bottom floor, and ample storage space through the apartment.

Designed by renowned architect Emery Roth and developed by Bing and Bing, 433 East 51st is part of the Southgate complex of stunning Art Deco buildings completed in 1931. The full service building features a 24 hour doorman, landscaped garden, laundry room, and bicycle storage. Pets and pied-a-terres allowed.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
