Property Description for 290 Bleecker Street

Don’t miss this ONE-OF-A-KIND carriage house in the heart of Brooklyn’s eclectic Bushwick neighborhood. As you walk in through your private street entrance, you’ll immediately realize this is not your typical home—it’s a work of art. Featured in Architectural Digest, this former artist’s residence is filled with natural light and splashes of color left by the artist himself—including vibrant, multi-color tile floors, calming wall hues, a centerpiece spiral staircase, and custom light fixtures that have to be seen to be appreciated. A fully renovated kitchen with top-line appliances and custom cabinets opens to a light-filled living area with floor-to-ceiling windows—which in turn opens to your own delightful backyard space with a 12- foot wall for privacy. Walk up the red steel spiral staircase to the second level, where you’ll find three spacious ensuite bedrooms with renovated bathrooms connected by a welcoming hall with exposed brick. Take the steps down from the main level to a partial basement with laundry and an additional half-bath, plus plenty of storage. You’ll also enjoy added touches such as central heat and air, video security, and your own garage! If you think living in Bushwick is too far off the beaten path, think again. Outside your door, it’s a quick walk to the L and M trains, and you’re steps away from both Myrtle Avenue and Knickerbocker Avenue, where you’ll find a plethora of stores, restaurants, and neighbors to meet. Everything you need is close by, with easy access to the best the city has to offer. This truly unique home is not to be missed and definitely won’t last. Reach out to schedule a showing today.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
