Property Description for 688 Willoughby Ave

Outstanding Scandinavian-inspired design meets ease and efficiency in this superb, private and comfortable 3 bedroom, 2 bath townhome. Enter on the main living floor where clean lines and natural light abound, and views open out onto greenery front and rear. Split between generous lounge and kitchen spaces, the living floor is an entertainers dream, with multiple seating and eating areas, while an intelligently-designed eat-in kitchen features high-end stainless steel appliances from the boutique New Zealand manufacturer Fisher & Paykell including a professional induction cooktop, self-cleaning oven and twin dishwasher drawers. Cooking and hosting are a breeze. With clear stained, solid white-oak floors on the two upper levels, oversized windows, German Passivhaus-grade, triple-paned skylights and a sunny, south-facing back yard, this home prioritizes light and air year-round. From the kitchen, enter into into a newly-built, private backyard oasis designed for all-season use. Featuring a rock garden, low-maintenance perrenial wildflower plantings, and an elevated deck for secluded outdoor lounging or dining, the garden is wired and will accommodate lighting, powered speakers, a movie projector, or radiant space heater. Pick your own grapes from the thriving grape vines growing in organic beds and enjoy the sun or the shade - this garden has both! On the upper-story, you will find two private and spacious primary bedrooms with generous closet space, and a large full-bathroom with soaking tub under a beautiful skylight. The bottom level features another large bedroom looking onto the garden, along with a second full-bath and a laundry room with new LG washer and dryer. This layout is perfect for hosting guests/inlaws/au pair, or can accommodate a TV den or home-office with ease. Efficiency is no exaggeration in this home with the average power and gas usage over the last two years at approximately $90 per month each. Quiet, hydronic baseboard radiators run by Nest smart-thermostats give total comfort in the coldest winter months while the strategically-placed opening skylights draw hot air outward during the summer. Originally built in 2003, and recently renovated, you can rest easy knowing this home has been constructed to modern standards. Water piping is copper (not lead), electrics are robust, and the building has minimal maintenance requirements. A Simplisafe security system also comes with this home. Enjoy the best Bed Sty has to offer with Herbert Von King Park, thriving cafes, bars and restaurants within comfortable walking distance, while also benefiting from North-Brooklyn proximity to Manhattan, Williamsburg and Ft Greene/Carol Gardens. Your new home is just two express stops or five local stops to the city on subway, and the lower east side is only 20 min by bike. This move-in ready, beautiful home offers exceptional value and comfort and has many considered touches that elevate it above its peers. Don’t delay!

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
