Property Description for 10 Jay Street, 6-C

$ 140K price improvement! One of a kind TriBeCa Loft with spectacular sky views and high ceilings, sun filled and quiet, in a supreme building in a prime location. 10 Jay St. - a former nut warehouse built in 1915, now a boutique co-op with only 14 units - offers what TriBeCa is so famous for: unique yet classic loft space - with its typical historical footprint and contemporary feel. Currently configured as a generous 1 bedroom/2 baths, 1,300± SF unit, this mint condition and move-in ready loft can easily be converted back to a 2 (or even 3 bedroom) space. Entering the serene, bright and sunny top floor apartment, you step into a generous foyer with six closets outfitted with smart shelving and a safe for your valuables. The generous living and dining area, now open to a den space, is huge - with 10’6” ceilings giving you room to breathe. Large Southern exposure skylight windows with motorized blinds allow light and sun streaming in all day - with a Freedom Tower view. The open Chef’s kitchen is the heart of the apartment - beautiful solid cherrywood cabinetry, Venetian ruby red glass mosaic tiles backsplash and honed black granite with an elegant matte finish. New top of the line appliances, a brand new Bertazzoni 6 burner range and stove with a vented hood, new Miele Fridge/Freezer with Ice maker, Miele Dishwasher, Panasonic Microwave, new Grohe fixtures and filtered water directly from an extra dispenser, will make dining and entertaining a daily pleasure. The breakfast bar is suited equally for a quick coffee or cocktails with guests. Built in, individually manageable HVAC and recessed lights throughout the entire apartment adds luxurious convenience. You’ll find quality materials everywhere: Newly refinished matte oak hard wood floors create a warm atmosphere - and in the bathrooms and kitchen you’ll walk on natural stone tiles. One bathroom has a spacious shower, rainbow colored iridescent Venetian glass mosaic tiles and multihued glass vessel sink. The main bathroom with a deep soaking tub and a rain shower head, off-white hand rolled subway tiles and marble, features new Grohe fixtures and two brand new touch light bathroom mirror cabinets on either side of the double sink. Both bathrooms have heated towel racks. There is a separate laundry room with a pocket door and your own Kenmore Washer and Dryer, as well as an additional cabinet. The pin drop quiet main bedroom with ample room for a king size bed boasts storage galore: a brand new built in 4 door closet (outfitted with solid wood shelving), beautiful walnut built-ins for your books, art or other treasured objects, and a desk. In addition to the many storage options in your own apartment, this property comes with a large storage unit in the basement, bike storage and a spectacular roof garden with several seating areas. A diligent superintendent, responsive managing agent, great financials and the low maintenance make 10 Jay St. a desirable address. A historical former downtown warehouse district, TriBeCa has become a friendly and vibrant neighborhood. Washington Market Park features a farmer’s market twice a week, Whole Foods, Bed Bath & Beyond and Target are nearby. Notable restaurants: Sarabeth’s, Locanda Verde, TriBeCa Grill, Bubby’s, The Odeon, Tamarind, Mr. Chow, Il Molino, Nobu, Laughing Man, Oculus as well as spas, gyms, aquacycling and nail salons - you’ll find it all. Public transportation options are abundant (1,2,3 and A and C trains, express buses M4 and M98), the Westside Highway just a couple of blocks away - this oasis is well connected to the whole city you love!

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
