Property Description for 1007 Bergen Street, 1-B

Welcome home to 1007 Bergen, the crown jewel of Crown Heights. A four-unit boutique condo conversion with a rich history and a definite place in the future. The goal in designing this building was to create maximum living with practical earth-friendly solutions. Brooklyn Solar Works has installed a gorgeous pergola style solar panel that will subsidize the electric for all common areas of the building including the outdoor spaces.

Each unit was uniquely carved out and restored, for modern living, maintaining the charm from the original silhouette built in the 1920's complimented with luxury finishes and sustainable solutions for today's modern condo homeowner, set within a townhome.

Get ready for grand! The entryway into your new home is located under the stoop and private to the garden duplex. The additional platform stairwell creates a unique sense of privacy shielded from street traffic; like a speakeasy or well-kept secret.

Enter your 1661 SF grand, garden duplex home! Your future front door leads directly into an open floorplan: kitchen, dining and formal living room on the south side of the building. Follow the hallway to the North end of the home where you will find two well-appointed bedrooms with ample closet space, 2 full bathrooms (with tub) and floor to ceiling windows in both bedrooms overlooking your exclusive back garden (no neighbors to envy, the garden view is all yours).

The chef's kitchen is super chic and incredibly functional complete with a 5 burner stove, a golden pot filler, a Carrera waterfall island, Liebherr refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher as well as other upgraded features. Unit 2A boasts two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a designated outdoor space in the south end of the roof.

Unique to this unit are two levels and an extra half bath downstairs. The lower level offers plenty of flexible living space: perfect for a large den, playroom, and office or guest quarters. Did we mention the perfect powder room? The sub living area hosts a half bathroom complimented with a sizable walk-in closet that can convert to plenty of useable storage, office or extended full bath.

"What's that you say? There is more?!" The lower level of the duplex leads to two outdoor spaces complete with water and electric. Slide open your glass door to lounge in your cozy English courtyard. Set up with electric, just add Wi-Fi! This is the perfect spot to work from home, cook outdoors or watch an outdoor movie; partially covered to be comfortable as a living space 3 seasons of the year.

The best is yet to come, do not miss the (faux) grassy garden! There is an additional well-positioned wide stairway from the courtyard leading to a sun drenched private garden complete with turf, privacy fence, water and electric. Ready for the new owners to diy their green sanctuary!

This unit exceeds expectation with low common charges, low taxes and additional storage and bike storage available in the sub-cellar in the front.

We could not be more excited for the future homeowners to live and create a home here at 1007 Bergen. Do not miss an incredible opportunity to live in a community that values the earth without missing a beat on the luxury of new construction. Please note that the west windows are lot line windows.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
