Property Description for 59 West 12th Street, 10-BC

Sophisticated, stunning, elegant – the perfect description of this quadruple mint, renovated and spacious three-bedroom home. This prewar condominium developed by the renowned Bing & Bing is ideally positioned in the heart of Greenwich Village. High-end architectural details are combined with brilliant design elements that make this home warm and inviting. No detail has been overlooked and all readily felt the minute one enters the home. The generous entrance gallery has lovely Venetian plaster walls, herringbone wood floors and a gracious hallway closet. This leads to an expansive open living room/dining room facing South over quaint 12th Street. There is light and sun all day plus beautiful skyline and treetop views as you sit by the window overlooking landmarked townhouses. A stunning working fireplace with a Chesney marble mantle anchors the room. Moldings surround the space and storage has been discreetly added. The dining area is large enough to host a dinner for 10, yet cozy for intimate gatherings. The hallway leading to the primary bedroom is completely outfitted with custom mahogany closets. The sizable primary bedroom exudes a peaceful, Zen atmosphere – incredibly quiet and private with gorgeous neutral wallpaper, a second working fireplace (also with a Chesney marble mantle), stunning built-in dressers and beautiful western views over the city. This is a perfect place to unwind at the end of a busy day. The windowed spa-like bathroom has radiant heated floors, double sinks, a large walk-in marble shower with a bench. The bathroom is marble with venetian plaster walls. The enormous walk-in mahogany closet measures 10'6" by 6'10" and has been thoughtfully outfitted. There are two additional bedrooms, allowing for complete privacy for all. Both have magnificent windowed en-suite baths and walk-in closets. The windowed chef's kitchen has been outfitted with all top-of-the-line appliances which include a Viking stove, Bosch dishwasher and a SubZero refrigerator. A separate wine refrigerator was installed for collectors. Custom wood cabinets, mirrored backsplash, under-counter lighting and black granite countertops complete the kitchen. Some additional special features of this stunning home are oak floors, luxe moldings, a Lutron lighting system, individual room-controlled A/C sound system with hidden in-wall speakers, motorized solar and blackout shades, and tall beamed ceilings. Storage has been optimized so that everything has a place. 59 West 12th Street is a rare prewar condominium with a full-time doorman, resident manager, laundry room and children's playroom.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
