Property Description for 782 Madison Street, 4-B

Ask us about our 3.75% mortgage rate! Welcome to 782 Madison Street, Unit 4B — a rare combination of affordability, space and charm. This true 2-bedroom, floor-through apartment was renovated from top to bottom in 2011 and stylishly updated just this year. This top-floor condo features a remodeled kitchen with soft grey cabinetry offset by clean, white quartz countertops, classic subway tile backsplash, and white appliances including a dishwasher and gas range with a hood that is vented to the outside. The overall effect is both modern and inviting. The open kitchen is adjacent to dedicated dining area large enough to seat 6 people, which opens onto the very comfortable living room. In the front of the unit is a good-sized bedroom with lovely arched windows overlooking P.O. Renaldo Segrado Playground — offering wide, sky-filled views with no buildings across the street, and glimpses of Manhattan in the distance. The rear bedroom is a sunny, south-facing room which overlooks possibly the largest backyard in Bedford Stuyvesant! The giant, shared garden is underutilized leaving you with almost your own massive outdoor space — for pets, kids, or the kid in you. A classically-tiled full bath completes the apartment. There are a total of 3 closets, 2 are double-width, PLUS there is a deeded storage space in the cellar, where you'll also find the laundry room and entrance to the shared garden. Hot-water baseboard heat throughout. J-51 tax abatement is in effect through mid 2030. Maintenance is $734pm which includes a temporary assessment in effect for only 2.5 more years ($521 before assessment). 782 Madison St, is located across the street from P.O. Renaldo Segrado Playground, minutes to Saratoga Park, and the recently renovated Jesse Owens Playground featuring a built-in pool. If the backyard is not large enough for your green thumb, you'll find Citizens for a Better Community Garden just a block away. In addition to the many green spaces, 782 Madison St is located in the heart of Stuyvesant East nearby hot-spots such as Toad Style, Chez Alex, Marian's Brooklyn, L'Antagoniste, Greedi Kitchen, Grandchamps, among many other Bed Stuy and Bushwick eateries and shopping. The J/Z/A/C trains are a 5-10 minute walk.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
