Property Description for 100 Gold Street, 1-R

Welcome to 100 Gold Street, an intelligently redesigned duplex in the heart of Vinegar Hill. This two bedroom, two bathroom condo offers the best of all worlds: plenty of space, a large private garden, and a quiet residential experience just a few blocks from bustling DUMBO.

This beautiful renovation is the brainchild of a chef and artist and has been laid out to properly accommodate the living experience. The thoughtfully designed kitchen has been outfitted with paneled appliances, custom Ivory Build cabinetry detailed with timeless brass hardware, and a Pietra Cardosa waterfall island - with plenty of space for your sous chef to assist. On the other side, you'll find a large walk-in pantry. The seamless cabinetry design leads your eyes along the southern wall, built out with bookshelves, closed storage, and cutouts for dining, art, and media.

Floor to ceiling windows prominently display your outside oasis. The 700sf backyard has been landscaped with a lush lawn, paved space for dining, and built in planters and bench seating along the perimeter. The built-ins include space for both a standard gas and round charcoal grill. In the far northwestern corner, you'll enjoy the shade and bounty of a thriving 10ft fig tree.

The main floor features a large bedroom with a spacious step-in closet and an eye-catching bathroom across the hall. The bathroom has been redesigned with fully tiled walls, built in storage adorned with teak sliding doors, and handsome brass Waterworks fixtures. Downstairs, the primary bedroom offers maximum privacy. Enjoy high ceilings, a large light well, another step-in closet, and built-ins galore. Past the teak sliding barn door, you'll find a long hallway with custom Ivory Build shelving and drawers. The en-suite bathroom again features tiled-walls and Waterworks fixtures. Through the exterior door at the end of the hallway, you'll reach your private storage unit. This home includes more storage than one would expect in such a contemporary condo in Vinegar Hill.

Across the street from 100 Gold St is an active and blooming community garden. The York Street F train station is two blocks away, and limited traffic on this block offers a quiet living experience. The neighborhood offers tons of popular dining options, including Vinegar Hill House, Celestine, Seamore's, Cecconi's, Rimnam Thai Kitchen, and Westville DUMBO.

Dumbo | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

DUMBO, which is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, used to be a lively industrial and manufacturing zone, full of large factories and warehouses. These buildings have now been converted into expansive lofts, theaters, galleries, and office spaces for start-up companies. These larger residential spaces are attractive to families and creative artists and writers who need space to dream and create.

DUMBO was named in 1978 as a sort of reverse marketing ploy to try to keep people from swarming into the area, attracted by the quaint tree-lined streets, elegant historic brownstones, large lofts, and views of Lower Manhattan. It was felt that this influx of people would change the nature of the neighborhood. It was hoped that by giving the area a ridiculous name, nobody would want to live there.

Many of the neighborhood’s bars, hotels, and restaurants capitalize on the stunning waterfront views and the Manhattan skyline in the background. Interesting and fun cultural events are held under and around the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges that connect DUMBO to Manhattan. One of these is the annual Oktoberfest.

With beautiful vignettes of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges being framed around every corner, DUMBO provides residents and tourists with charming, and often surprising, views. Because the neighborhood is eminently walkable and filled with unique shops, it feels like a small town on the edge of a major urban waterfront. Once people move to DUMBO, they tend to stay and become involved in the community.
