Property Description for 794 De Kalb Ave, A-3

Best value in prime Bedstuy! This 2.5 bed, 2 bath duplex loft features double height 15’3" ceilings and large northwest facing windows, giving you lovely light throughout the day, especially in the late afternoon. Bask in the golden sunsets right from your private balcony or peep skyline views from the common, and newly outfitted rooftop. Freshly refinished oak floors and new paint job, give the space a serene feel. The chef’s kitchen is very functional with stone countertops, solid oak shaker cabinets, and an extended island with storage on both sides. Enjoy updated appliances including a stainless steel gas stove, dishwasher, and microwave. There are two full baths, one on each level, one with a soaking tub and another with a corner shower. Both bedrooms are spacious and well appointed. The upstairs primary suite has been sealed off with frosted glass, ensuring great privacy—for those still working from home—while still allowing natural light to shine through. It also has a separate annexed space that could be used as a nursery or home office. The unit features central A/C and heat, track lighting, a new hot water heater, and new vented washer/dryer. Truly, this apartment has all the essentials. The building is self managed, and has very low carrying costs. There are 10 years left on the 421-a tax abatement. Great Bedstuy location, just around the corner from Herbert Von King Park and conveniences like Bravo supermarket (less than a block away), Guacuco, Burly Coffee, and a short jaunt to neighborhood favorites: Saraghina, Peaches, Lunàtico, and Macosa Trattoria. Catch the G train at Myrtle/Willoughby, the JMZ at Myrtle/Broadway, and the B38 and B52 buses.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
