Property Description for 1123 Park Place

1123 Park Place is a one-of-a-kind, designer owned, artistically renovated, legal two-family 20 X 50ft landmarked brownstone with an enormous 1100 ft private backyard. Situated on one of Crown Heights best blocks, this gorgeous home has been restored and remodeled with style and thoughtfulness. With an owner's 3 bedroom/2.5 bathroom duplex over a garden level, 1 bedroom + separate office —the layout is truly ideal. The owner's duplex boasts 12 ft ceilings, incredible original details like oak pocket doors, ornate borders and several intact floor to ceiling pier mirrors. The large living area leads seamlessly into the sleek, designer Norbert Wangen kitchen by Boffi. The appliances are Gaggenau and include a vented gas stove top on the custom island made of hot rolled steel on plywood. A large dining room lays parallel to the kitchen and there is a convenient powder room down the hallway on this floor as well. Upstairs, on the third floor there are two large and sunny bedrooms —with two full bathrooms. The South facing primary bedroom has a picturesque sitting area and a wall of closets connected to it. The primary bathroom has a dreamy soaking tub and separate rainfall shower, with a hot rolled steel vanity as well. There is a third room on this floor that is currently set up as a wonderful office space with a skylight. The garden level apartment is spacious and freshly renovated. With exposed brick walls, a large primary bedroom, full bathroom and a separate office with backyard access. The roof was redone 6 months ago and all mechanicals are less than 10 years old. The semi-finished floor-through basement with 8 ft ceilings has tons of potential too. Located in the Crown Heights North Historical District with the Children’s Museum and Brower Park a stone's throw away. Crown Heights is one of Brooklyn’s most desirable neighborhoods, with incredible eateries, supermarkets and boutiques around, and excellent express trains right there.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
