Property Description for 420 East 51st Street, 14-A

Enjoy high-floor living and beautiful views from this generous 3 bedroom 3 bathroom corner apartment at the elegant 420 Beekman Hill. The stunning home wrapped in oversized windows facing north and east showcases lovely vistas of the East River and cityscapes, and is in excellent mint condition from top to bottom. Light-bathed interiors are complemented by gleaming hardwood floors enriching the spacious open living-dining room, plus tons of closet space and refined modern finishes throughout.

The double-exposure eat-in kitchen is a dream for the chef, appointed with rich wood cabinetry, sleek black granite countertops, and premium stainless steel appliances by Thermador, Sub-Zero and Bosch, including a wine fridge for your favorite vintages. Carpeted bedrooms are bright and inviting with tasteful built-ins and loads of storage.

The primary suite sits quietly on the far west end featuring a fabulous outfitted walk-in closet, additional closets, a built-in desk, and upscale bath with vessel sinks, a spa shower and 2nd walk-in closet. The secondary bedroom also has a huge walk-in, and the third bedroom is great for sleeping quarters or a home office. Both have access to 2 full finely-designed bathrooms set conveniently across the hall. Newer heat and AC units heighten the comfort.

Set on a charming tree-lined block, 420 East 51st Street offers full-time doorman service, brand new fitness center, an onsite parking garage, updated laundry room, private storage, refrigerated grocery storage, a bike room, and wonderful landscaped rooftop terrace with sweeping city and river views for the ultimate outdoor enjoyment. The double-height lobby with marble flooring, rosewood paneling and a large concierge desk was impeccably restored in 2020; plus the building's hallways, carpeting and lighting were completely renovated and updated in 2021.

The location of this meticulously-maintained land lease cooperative is excellent as well, between Beekman Place and 1st Avenue, a half block from Peter Detmold Park and the East River. Also nearby is UN Plaza, Midtown shops and restaurants, the FDR Drive, and other local amenities. Pets are permitted.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
