Property Description

This forgotten treasure has 13' ceilings, two wood burning fireplaces, leafy park views and is filled with sunlight through the day.
Currently configured as a three bedroom apartment with a galley kitchen apartment #6BC has tremendous potential and can be re imagined to fit your needs.

Enter into a spacious 1925 pre war living room and you will be impressed by enormous outsized windows that look out to the parks of Tudor City Green, the blue skies of Manhattan are the backdrop. There is a wood burning fireplace in the living room with French doors leading to a huge primary bedroom, an entire wall of closets reaches up to the ceiling. Additional off season storage space is located above the closets. This bedroom is large and has a very airy feeling with two exposures and a enormous proportioned picture window facing north into the trees.

There is currently a windowed galley kitchen that needs a new owners touch. The second bedroom features a fireplace with stone mantle piece and would make a wonderful library or den. There is an alcove off this room that could be made into a wet bar or used as a dressing area or made into an additional closet. Washer dryers inside the unit are NOT allowed
The third bedroom is tucked just down the hall and is quiet and private and there is another bathroom in the hallway.

This unit has not been to market for 30 years and there is nothing else like it in Manhattan but needs an imagination to bring it back to life.
The scale and proportions of this unique space are from another time, they have to been seen to fully understand the glamour and possibilities of this wonderful apartment.
This building has laundry in the basement, a live in super, pet are welcomed.

Tudor City | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Compared to other New York City neighborhoods Tudor City is a bit different. For starters, it's not very big. And technically it's not a neighborhood, it's more along the lines of a residential enclave of Tudor style buildings and parks. Even with the large neon sign boldly exclaiming the enclave's name, Tudor CIty is still a little tricky to find.

Located on the southern edge of Turtle Bay, Tudor City borders Murray Hill and lies on a low cliff which is just east of Second Avenue between 40th and 43rd Street. It overlooks the grounds of the United Nations along First Avenue and the East River beyond.

Tudor City is considered one of the world’s first skyscraper apartment complexes. This was considered a remarkable feat in 1929. Early marketing material, aimed at the middle class, described the development as well-planned, well-built, and well-priced housing. Developer Fred F. Finch designed Tudor City to keep middle class residents in Manhattan as many were fleeing the city for the suburbs.
