Property Description for 29 West 138th Street, 6-H

29 West 138th Street, #6H, A Furnished 2 Bedroom Rental at Beacon Towers"

Just bring your toothbrush" is a common phrase you see in ads for furnished rentals, but this apartment is anything but common. Significant upgrades have been made over the years making it one of the most fun and interesting places to live in NYC. There's more storage space than one could possibly imagine.

Furnished with an LG 50" Ultra HD TV in the primary bedroom & a Samsung 54" TV in the second bedroom. The primary also has a walk-in closet, there's a built-in home office in the living room. Additional features include a home theater with a Bose surround sound touch 5 system & subwoofer, an Epson movie projector, there's a Yamaha piano, the kitchen has a TON of storage space, beautiful granite counter tops, a new tile black splash. There's a Frigidaire full sized refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, Vissani microwave, LED lights. The bathroom has a full bathtub and a shower. There's an Haier washer/dryer combo in unit.

This is a fabulous location around the corner from Harlem Hospital, the 2/3 express train & also a few blocks from the 4/5. Legends, a brand-new smoothie bar just opened across the street. Just a few blocks west we have the famous Lisa Logan nail salon where celebrities are often spotted. There's the famous Make My Cake bakery which was featured in that reality show "Cake Boss". The Ponty Bistro on Adam Clayton Powell is a fabulous restaurant. If you're looking for a watering hole after work, grab a pint at Harlem Hops.

It's located just a few blocks from a state-of-the-art YMCA with a full fitness center and a swimming pool. We're 1 stop from Wholefoods & soon to be a new Trader Joes! Contact me today to schedule a tour of 29 West 138th 6H before it's rented.

Harlem | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The neighborhood called West Harlem by the locals is known as Manhattanville to neighborhood newcomers. The area is culturally diverse and might be considered a microcosm of the city as a whole.

Columbia University has recently expanded into the area, which is attracting student residents from all over the world. Together with students from the City College of New York and young professionals fleeing higher prices in other neighborhoods, this influx of younger residents has brought with it more restaurants and bars on W 125th Street to serve this clientele. There are also new ventures, like a rock-climbing gym, to cater to the interests of these students and young professionals. At the same time, there are many small, family-owned shops and restaurants that have been anchors of the neighborhood for multiple generations.

The area has been through a housing upgrade, as older properties have been renovated and abandoned properties have been razed to make room for new development. There are still reasonably priced apartments available. Young professionals are finding that there is a certain cachet to living in West Harlem. It provides a convenient commute to the city and all of its amenities, while providing a sense of escape at the end of a long work day.

While rentals are popular with the student population, the young professionals are delighted to find pre-war brownstones, pre-war co-ops (including some income-capped HDFCs for lower- and middle-income buyers), and post-war condos that they can afford, although prices are rising. Some new low-rise developments, sporting virtual doormen and desired amenities, are cropping up.
