Property Description

Deal fell through! Here's your second chance!

This will be an absolute gem for whomever snags this remodel-ready co-op. We have included additional floor plans and virtual renovation images to illustrate just how open, airy and contemporary the apartment can be. The structure is excellent and the versatility is unmatched.

A residence with great bones awaits your singular style. This wonderful Sutton Place 2-bedroom/2 bath that can be turned into a 3-bedroom is primed for a renovation rebirth! With the help of your architect/contractor, this 1425 sq ft (approx.) co-op can transform from its current estate condition to a bright, modern masterpiece.

As currently laid out, spacious closets welcome you into a large foyer at the heart of the home. Straight ahead is the substantial 300+ sq ft living area lined with picture windows overlooking the Town Tennis Club. A dining room adjacent to the living area fills with light & idyllic double exposure views of the buildings private courtyard accented by green treetops. This area could also easily serve as a tranquil study or den.

To view a 3-D walk-thru of the unit, click the VIDEO or VIRTUAL TOUR link above or go to: https://bit.ly/3qS2pjK.

Enter the galley kitchen from either the dining or foyer or reimagine the space and create an open kitchen plan. Either way, youll have options galore with plenty of cabinet space and the opportunity to create a chefs kitchen. One iteration (see alternate floor plan #2) will allow for a third bedroom and an open kitchen/dining area.

A right from the foyer leads to an owners ensuite with a walk-in closet, secondary closet, panoramic corner windows and a private bathroom with soaking tub. The second bedroom includes double closets and an abundance of natural light. The full second bathroom, located off the main hallway, offers another blank canvas waiting for your imprimatur.

Built in 1949, Sutton Manor East is located on a quiet block in one of Manhattans most affluent and sought after neighborhoods. With modern upgrades and a designer remodel, this space is destined to be an exquisite home.

Two Beds in Sutton Place

Sutton Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Sutton Place is usually described with favorable words like charming, cozy, great neighborhood, hidden gem, sanctuary, or even small village inside a big city. Those descriptions aren’t from real estate folks either, they’re from the people that live and work there, so it must be true.

The quiet and upscale neighborhood is more like an enclave. It’s bounded by East 53rd Street to the south, East 59th Street to the North, First Avenue to the west, and the East River to the east. Most residents will tell you that everything you’ll ever need is located in the neighborhood. When it’s time to venture out into the cityscape, Sutton Place is within easy reach to Midtown and cultural attractions like the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and other iconic sites.

Manhattan has always had notable celebrity residents. But for unknown reasons, Sutton Place has had more than its share of superstars over the years. Some of the more iconic celebs include: Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, Freddie Mercury, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Crawford, Michael Jackson and sister Latoya (Just for one summer).

Sutton Place is named after Effingham B. Sutton, a shipping merchant and entrepreneur. After hitting it big in the California gold rush, Sutton built brownstones along East 57th and East 58th streets with aspirations of making the section more residential. Poverty and crime dashed his dreams. The street gangs that hung out along the dead-ends and cul-de-sacs added to the neighborhood’s decay. Sutton was about to give up on his development endeavors but the Vanderbilt’s and the Morgan’s showed up in the 1920s and transformed the neighborhood. It soon became a wealthy enclave.
