Property Description for 816 Lafayette Ave

Welcome to 816 Lafayette Avenue located in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. This 4-story, 2-family home sitting on a 20ft x 100ft lot is a double duplex consisting of 7-bedrooms, 4-bathrooms, a sprawling living room, formal dining and a large backyard. The beauty of brownstone living is the flexibility of room configurations but despite your preference in arrangement the home gets an abundance of natural light from both north and south. The home features hardwood floors, tons of original details throughout, which adds to its charm. Starting with the owner's duplex that takes up the parlor and garden level, the parlor has an extra-large bedroom with beautiful double doors. Off that bedroom is a full bath, a second bedroom with an adjoining living/dining room. The open feel of this duplex is partly realized because of the 11ft ceiling and almost floor to ceiling windows. Rounding off the parlor level is the first of two kitchen with view of the living/dining area. Below is the garden floor, and the second level of the duplex where there is another bedroom, a nursery, a second living room, a full bath and eat-in kitchen. And right off the kitchen before entering the backyard you're afforded a den. The backyard is perfect for that owner with a green thumb. With planter beds already in place you can grow your vegetables, peppers, and tomatoes or clear that all out and start with a clean slate with the option to build a backyard oasis and you absolutely have the space to do so. The yard is 44ft x 20ft so there will be plenty of space for spring/summer and fall entertaining. There is also a large basement that is the full length of the home for storage and or recreational space. In addition there is a rental in the form of a duplex on the top 2 floors. This duplex consists of 3-bedrooms, open living/dining, a nursery, a den, and 2 full baths. The kitchen is efficient and comes completed with functional appliances. This rental unit will be a great help with your mortgage. 816 Lafayette Avenue is in the epicenter of everything that excites the most enthusiastic foodie, with the Michelin starred L'Antagoniste, Saraghina, Nana Ramen, Peaches Hot House, and countless other restaurants, chic bars and coffee shops nearby. Commuting is convenient with access to buses (B43 at Throop Ave/Lafayette Av & B16 at Lewis Ave/Lafayette Av). This is 816 Lafayette Av in Bedstuy - with character oozing from every floor and every room, if that traditional brownstone lifestyle is what you're looking for, bring your contract and look NO further.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
