Property Description for 201 West 16th Street, 18-D

ALL visits (including open houses) require registered appointments signed covid docs submitted at least 24 hours in advance (48 hours for weekends). 201 W. 16th Street #18D is a hidden gem in prime Chelsea. An exquisitely designed, jewel box one bedroom in a stellar, prewar coop, it has million-dollar city and garden views to the east, south and north through six new, double-paned casement windows. This rare, high floor home is the perfect pied a terre or primary residence for the discerning buyer.

Glorious, pre-war details like 9-foot beamed ceilings and impeccable white oak floors enhance the masterful interior design, rendering this highly efficient floor plan both utterly livable and with many storage options. The flexible, rectangular-shaped living room bathed in brilliant sunlight allows for living, dining and even a home office area. The sunny, windowed cook's kitchen, opened with a breakfast bar to the living area, offers an enormous amount of cabinet space in walnut and white lacquer, top of the line stainless Bosch and Bertazonni appliances, and clean, white Caesarstone counters.

A dressing area with two roomy closets leads to the spa-like windowed bath where Bianco Dolomiti marble walls, mosaic floors, a glass-enclosed soaking tub and Chrome Axor fixtures set a sparkling tone to this luxurious space. The tranquil, queen-sized bedroom is graced with unlikely treetop views from the 17th floor terrace below.

At the nexus of Greenwich Village, West Village and Meatpacking, 201 West 16th Street boasts a 24 hour doorman, beautifully planted roof deck with smashing views, a common laundry, storage and a bike area. A live-in superintendent and wonderful staff are just the cherry on top. Pets, pieds a terre and co-purchasing will be considered. This is tenant occupied. All weekend appts require covid docs and registration prior to 4p Friday. For quickest access, contact the seller's agents directly.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
