Property Description for 108 Himrod Street

Enjoy intimate townhouse living in vibrant Bushwick, Brooklyn, in a beautiful top-to-bottom gut-renovated 2-family gem! This circa 1920-built home on a 2,000 sq ft lot has been impeccably reinvigorated in the Victorian “Gingerbread” style by The Designed Domicilio. Melding old world charm with modern stylings, it offers generous 3,000 square foot interiors comprised of 2 apartments – a lovely owner’s duplex, and garden-floor unit that can provide great rental income. A front porch, rear terrace and large patio heighten the appeal and afford outdoor enjoyment. The 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom owner’s duplex occupies upper two floors of the home. The main level presents an expansive living room, dining room and kitchen for seamless entertaining. Enhancing the elegance is a decorative brick fireplace, dry bar, gorgeous hardwood floors, and refined finishes throughout. The generous kitchen features a striking wood cross-beamed ceiling, is well-appointed for the home chef with a deep sink, big center island, marble countertops, and modern cabinetry. Premium appliances include a stainless steel 6-burner stove and paneled refrigerator by Bertazzoni, and an integrated dishwasher. From the kitchen, doors open to the rear patio - ideal for coffee and cocktails - with steps leading down to the garden. Completing this level is a tasteful guest powder room. On the upper level are all 3 bedrooms, the highlight being the king-size primary suite with a huge walk-in closet and luxurious full bath that includes a dual-sink vanity, spa shower and high-end fixtures. Two front-facing bedrooms, one with a decorative fireplace, share a full hall bath and give flexibility if a home office is desired. A washer-dryer is conveniently located for laundry ease. The spacious garden apartment has its own separate entrance and features a living/rec room with a decorative fireplace, an open kitchen, full bathroom, and 2 bedrooms with ample closets. One of the bedrooms accesses a private rear patio. This special townhouse is located near great shops, eateries, and other local amenities.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
