Property Description for 234 East 14th Street, 2-E

Roomy and VERY centrally located home in an elevator building. At more than 750 Square Feet it's large for a pre-war 1 bedroom in the East Village, and has lots of character. There are high ceilings throughout, and the living room has exposed brick and a decorative fireplace. There is an alcove which is perfect for a home office or eating area. The kitchen is large and renovated; has granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, solid maple cabinetry (with tons of storage space!) and a tile backsplash. There's a walk-in closet, as well as a large closet in the bedroom. The bathroom was recently renovated, and both the kitchen and bathroom have windows. Even though the property is on East 14th St. this home is located on the rear side of the building so it's pin drop quiet.

A great location, at the crossroads of the East Village, Gramercy and a block and a half from Union Square. You are surrounded by outstanding restaurants, amazing nightlife, movie theaters, shopping and coffee shops. Trader Joe's is just minutes away, as is Whole Foods and The Westside Market. One of New York's best farmers' markets is in Union Square. And access to public transit could not be better, including THREE different subway lines - the 4, 5 & 6, the N, Q, R & W, and the L train.

This co-op allows co-purchasing, pieds-a-terre, guarantors, and has a liberal sublet policy. Pets are welcome, but sorry, no dogs. While the maintenance is low there's presently an assessment of $399.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
