Property Description for 217 East 5th Street, 3

Authentic and charming Prewar apartment on one of the best tree-lined blocks in the East Village - East 5th Street between Second and Third Avenues, now officially designated within a City historic district! This is a brownstone floor-through with an abundance of character, exposed brick, two decorative fireplaces and natural hardwood floors. Two short flights' walk up, the living room has a sunny Southern exposure, while the bedroom with exposed brick faces North to a tranquil courtyard. The renovated eat-in kitchen is super-stylish and functional, with a dishwasher, microwave and new floor. The completely redone windowed bathroom boasts a large shower stall and good storage. And there is even a bonus room - a den that could be used as a second bedroom (as it had recently been configured) or home office. Other hallmarks of this special home include two walk-in closets, high ceilings and tons of old school charm.

This quiet loft-like apartment feels larger than it is and is a true home, located just off the Bowery, one of the hippest new corridor of shops, hotels, museums, and all the area's best restaurants and nightlife. Also close to both the East River Esplanade, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Union Square, as well as the N/R, B/D/F/M and 6 trains. Pet-friendly on a case-by-case basis, it is hard to find a better overall package of location, charm and move-in-readiness for the price! Available immediately for one year only. Also available for sale for $800,000.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
