Property Description for 1136 Dean Street, 3

Brownstone floor-through with 300' terrace, condo finishes and Washer/Dryer in unit! Only one flight up from the entrance, #3 wows in both size, style and substance. The primary entrance takes you past two entry closets (with cedar interiors) and into a bright, south facing living room with soaring ceilings. Here there is access to the large decked private terrace, natural light for your plants and artwork and room for proper dining. There is also room for a desk or credenza...the options are myriad. The adjacent kitchen is reminiscent of modern condominium. Only a year old, functionality and design were both attended to beyond a normal rental. Sporting plenty of space for multiple cooks to maneuver and prep, this two-sided kitchen enjoys stainless steel LG and Samsung appliances, custom cabinetry with copious storage, a deep sink and outlets for your own appliances. At the end of the kitchen is a full-size stacked Samsung Washer and Dryer for your convenience. Through the pocket doors awaits a massive 5 fixture bathroom with soaking tub, dual sinks, oversized shower stall and massive mirror. With spa-like trim and size you can consider it another living area. There is an additional linen closet along with the storage under the sink. At the north end of the apartment is the full width bedroom almost 19' across with 4 windows. Multiple layouts are possible allowing for another home office, yoga nook, stationary bike or more furniture. The bright indirect light bouncing off Dean Street townhouses fills the room throughout the day. There is another cedar closet in the bedroom. Lastly, there is access to the common stairwell from the bedroom as well, great for bringing luggage in and out on trips away. Need more storage? #3 has sole access to a closet in the common hallway as well as a shelved armoire. 1136 Dean Street sits at the head of the Crown Heights Historic District at the intersection of Dean, Bedford and Rogers Ave. Only a few blocks to the A/C/S subways, you can also head down bustling Franklin Ave to get to the 2/3/4/5 trains. Franklin Ave has the most exciting restaurants and retail between Atlantic Ave and Eastern Parkway. The neighborhood hosts some or Brooklyn's best amenities including Brooklyn Botanical, Prospect Park, The Children's Museum and Brower Park.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
