Property Description for 250 West 22nd Street, 2-B

One of Chelseas most idyllic tree-lined blocks sets the perfect backdrop for this meticulously renovated, oversized one-bedroom home. A recent high-end designer renovation inspired by Coco Chanels atelier has enhanced the original art-deco aesthetic and pre-war integrity. Bright and quiet, this bespoke and pristine home is lovingly restored, transporting you to a gilded era of Paris and Manhattan simultaneously.

Enter through a gracious foyer with a large coat closet and take in the original arched entryways and high ceilings. The large living space is benefited by two exposures, new picture rail and baseboard moldings, recessed lighting, skim coated walls, custom wood and brass radiator covers, a hearth cabinet fireplace with gorgeous Italian custom mantle, and a custom built-in black lacquer bookcase. Through a custom black lacquer door with vintage porthole, youll find the jaw-dropping windowed kitchen. Quartz countertops, vintage-style Moroccan tiles, a non-lacquered brass bridge faucet, an abundance of custom cabinetry, along with a Sub-Zero fridge, Viking range, and Bosch dishwasher create an ideal environment for all levels of culinary endeavors.

A double arched hallway curates separation between the living and bedroom spaces, and houses a large linen and utility closet. The sumptuous windowed bath, truly a sanctuary, features a brand new Kohler tub and unlacquered brass Waterworks fixtures including a rain shower, Ann Sachs Calacatta gold penny floor tiles and vanity top, and white Thassos marble, onyx and glass inleted walls. The enormous bedroom boasts two quiet exposures, a large walk-in closet, and a custom built-in which features two wardrobes, storage cabinets, a two-bin hamper, file drawers, and a desk with a roller drawer. Newly updated electric, plantation shutters, built-out closets by Manhattan Closets, and European brass door handles throughout add to the overall allure of this exquisite property.

The boutique pre-war co-op has liberal policies and is incredibly well run. Pet friendly, the building features a live-in Super, private storage, laundry, and a new video intercom system. The central Chelsea location puts you in the heart of some of the citys best shopping and dining and offers a multitude of public transportation options (A,C,E,F,M,L,1,and PATH). While often said, this is truly an incredibly unique and special offering in a prime downtown locale.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
